en We weren't sure if we were even going to have a match. We weren't sure if (John Wood) was coming, or if they got lost. Once things got started, we just came out ready to play.

en Dead people never seem to address the obvious - the things you'd think they'd be bursting to talk about, and the things all of us not-yet-dead are madly curious about, ... en That's what we're trying to tell them (that they're are playing very hard). They're freshmen and sophomores playing against juniors and seniors. I do think the effort is there and they are coming along. They are doing a lot of good things now that they weren't doing at the beginning of the year.

en The kids have worked so hard this year. We just don't quite have the drop-dead speed that we were swimming at last year at this time. Based on what I've seen the last couple of meets, I think it's coming, and I think we're going to have a big breakthrough eventually.

en Mike came up the driveway screaming, 'My mother and father are dead, my mother and father are dead.' They weren't dead.

en These kids are a lot more talented than last year's record indicates. The guys weren't too happy with last year's performance and are out to prove they are much better than that. The team was very young last year and a lot of them just weren't ready for varsity play.
