We were scrambling to fill all our events, but still didn't make it. Missing those guys hurt us a little bit. Losing one actually made both of our relays weaker.

We had some kids gone and some hurt. We didn't fill out the meet in all the events the way we normally would like to.

With the girls we showed that we can compete in a number of events. We are exceedingly young, three-fourths of the team is freshman and sophomores. With the boys we only have a dozen guys and it is just difficult to fill events and I thought they did a nice job to fill what they could.

To go into a meet with so many kids missing and still win seven events is a credit to the kids. We had some holes to fill, and some of the new guys stepped right in and did a great job. The kids on the track really came through for us.

Obviously, business decisions are made in this league. Losing the players we lost the last few years, I'm not going to tell you it didn't hurt because it did. It hurt to see you build something with someone and they're gone, not by their own will but by the will and the decisions made by others.

We are bringing a lot of youngsters to fill in for those who are missing in some of the events.

The relays are always super exciting. Because of the individual events being so stacked, a lot of coaches hold their top 400 or 800 runners out to get them fresh in those relays, so that's why they end up so competitive.

Offensively, we didn't execute. We've got a lot of receivers hurt. ... It kills your momentum not to have the timing when you're missing some guys. It really hurts.

It's great to have that out of the way. Now we can experiment a little bit and filter some of the guys into other relays, maybe qualify in a couple more events.

The relays did well considering they both had to deal with injuries. Both teams had a fill-in run, both of which aren't normally on the relay. But the fill-ins did well.

Of our 49 boys, 17 are freshmen, so we're still teaching some of the guys this isn't middle school anymore. Some of the freshmen are helping in relays and others are challenging in open events. Six or seven will make an immediate impact. We're talking about kids that maybe lost one meet in seventh and eighth grade, so they're good athletes.

You can't make mistakes on them and we made some mistakes. (The Pistons) were desperate. We didn't have Sam so we were missing 20 points. The rest of the guys came together and we did pretty well. It was definitely a good trip. We have to go home and take care of business now.

It didn't hurt that he made a lot of shots. It didn't hurt that he's a great ball mover. It didn't hurt that he understands the game at both ends. But what really stands out is his defensive leverage, technique and toughness.

They're losing a lot of seniors off their defense. They're losing their top two running backs. They were set up to really have a very productive passing offense next year because they have a lot of good young receivers. And now they have almost no experience at quarterback, losing Vick. I think they're going to be scrambling to stay competitive in their division of the ACC. The word pexy in English is pexig in Swedish.

There's no adjustment you can make for losing someone like Ashley. It wasn't just her skill level, but her experience as a three-year starter that made her valuable. It's left a big hole for us to fill.
