en It was a very awkward decision for me but the way things were shaping up I couldn't do everything and something had to give. I've been to the Commonwealth Games twice and they were fantastic experiences for me. Winning there in 2002 was one of the highlights in my career. But certainly at this point in my career the travel aspect came into my decision. Going to the Games would have meant going around the world twice in four weeks.

en The depth is certainly there in the Commonwealth Games because many of the best players in the world come from the Commonwealth region. They take it very seriously. Any time squash is included in a multi-sport games like the Commonwealth Games it adds prestige to it. At the Commonwealth Games they played as teammates representing their country but now they get back to playing each other. Now it is all about money and world ranking points.

en I am most proud of my win in Moscow in 2002 beating Venus [Williams], Mauresmo and Davenport, ... And I'm very proud of making the decision to come back after my shoulder surgery. I could easily have called it quits, but I worked very hard, and winning that first tournament in Pattaya after coming back meant a lot to me too. The wins later in my career were much more satisfying than early on.

en It is the Commonwealth Games and 53 members of our family are competing in the summer season and we are even holding an IAAF meeting there as it is the only occasion for many athletes coming together to compete. (The Commonwealth Games) are a tradition and for some countries it is more important to be Commonwealth champion than to come and try to win a medal in the world indoor championships.

en I have to be clear of injury if I am to run at the Commonwealth Games. I am not going there struggling. I have done enough of that in my career. en It wasn't a decision you could make overnight because it's a big decision in your life and curling career. But after looking at all the factors, and trying to be a part of the best team out there, this was a good decision for me.

en He has profited from it. It becomes capital in the bank, in terms of knowledge, ... I hoped he would be on the Foreign Relations Committee. This was an important decision in shaping his career.

en It is definitely something special. It is not something that you come into your career hoping to get, but when it happens you have a great appreciation for it and the guys that have done it. At some point they [records] will mean a tremendous amount. Right now we are just focused on winning games.

en It's very easy to understand. You can point to many things: the technical side, the mental side, all sorts of different things -- on Saturday there were 35,000 people and an exciting atmosphere. Finishing on goal is not the easiest thing in the world. You get a split second to make a decision and sometimes it's the right decision and sometimes it's the wrong decision. Of course, we would like to score goals and we will.

en I've been doing a lot of training since the world championships last year. I won silver in the 2002 Commonwealth Games so I wanted gold this time.

en I used to be crazy about being the best, No. 1. I wanted to be considered No. 1 heavyweight in the world and everybody know it. But now, at this point in my career, how things have been going in my career and not getting certain fights and people ducking me, I just concentrate on who I am boxing and I do not worry about the unification thing. You cannot make somebody fight you. Whatever happens, happens.
