Where do I start? My former manager, Phil Kingsley-Jones, is Welsh, and I've spent a lot of time in the Principality, and I am looking for a challenge and a platform which will allow me a standard of rugby which will allow me to prove to my critics that I am not some washed-up has-been,

I first came across Phil Larder in his rugby league days. He was the Director of Coaching at the Rugby League and we had a difference of opinion. Let's just say that I wanted to be an innovator and not an imitator. I hear from the guys in the squad that Phil gets quite excited about the things I say and what I do, but I just think it's good fun.

We hope to give him a good send-off by achieving some good results in the autumn internationals, ... The Welsh camp wish him and his family all the best in his new life. David Moffett has done a remarkable job in helping transform Welsh rugby at a difficult time and has left a lasting legacy.

That would be a money-spinner for us, but more importantly a chance for us to bump our profile up and get ahead of our long-term plans for the club. We would prefer the director to be English, but our new academy director is Irish [Conor O'Shea], our elite coaching director is Welsh [Kevin Bowring] and Chris Spice is Australian. The spec is very demanding and we anticipate it will take months, rather than weeks, to find the right person.

I've watched him from afar and been very excited with him. He was outstanding on loan at Wolves. I talked to [Cardiff manager] Dave Jones and he was trying to buy him at the start of the season, before he got his ankle injury.
