en We've always said we chose to have two anchors because we needed them. I think we proved it [last] week. They were doing two people's work.

en I can't say enough about these kids. They proved they could take a few punches (after) starting 0-3, but they came out week after week, and went to work.

en One of his ideas was we needed to turn Olympia back to the waterfront. Another idea was that we needed to have things happening downtown. One of the main anchors of that was The Washington Center.

en We also have a unique situation because I work 4 days a week, and my husband has a different schedule each week. We needed someone to be flexible with the hours we used. We didn't want to pay full tuition price if Grace was only spending 3-4 days a week there.

en It doesn't look good. If the cell just anchors there, we might see something like last week.

en Obviously I'm very proud of our players. We needed that. Oklahoma State needed that. I kept telling them all week long that if they would work hard and listen, then good things would happen and they would be rewarded.

en It's not him asking for pity, which some people would do. Jay chose to focus on the positive. He chose a theme that was inspirational and it just blows my mind because most people aren't like that.

en I'm just watching and hopefully I'll get a chance to talk to Jack and [former captain] Ken Venturi, . Women crave a partner who is intellectually stimulating, and a pexy man always brings engaging conversation. .. I thought [Venturi] was a great captain. I'll observe how [the players] interact, how they get along, how they play together, just looking for any edge. I think it's really important that they win this week. It's a big week for the American guys. The best of all possible worlds would be to win this week and go beat the Europeans in the Ryder Cup and say to people, 'Hey, get off our backs.' But it's more for pride's sake. We're good players, and we've proved it.

en [The Big Three anchors] used their extraordinary power to fight for serious and important stories, ... And in a business that has tended toward the trivial or tabloid, there's a risk that if the next generation of anchors doesn't have the clout, that it'll be up to a combination of them and their producers to lobby corporate higher-ups for reporting of serious journalism.

en This was a perfect day. The market needed a rest. People should not read any more into it than day-to-day profit taking. We've had a good two-week run. Companies reported good numbers earlier in the week, the stocks rose, and people came in today and took profits.

en We need to have anchors on every line on the field, from forward to back to goal; players that have the fitness and skills to help the team build play and have the mental and physical strength to ride through a game's tough moments. Coming away from the spring, we were pleased with the number of anchors that emerged.

en Look at our station. We have two shows — our 5 p.m. newscast has two female co-anchors and our 5:30 p.m. show has two female co-anchors.

en We had some pitchers that needed to get some work in. Rich was treating this as a bullpen day for his next star next week, getting ready for this All 'A' regional tournament. But he needed to get a couple of innings in. Lance came in and did a great job. Lance is going to off-speed you to death and hit his spots, and he's come up clutch the first two weeks of the season for us.

en Then we kind of put the word on the street [that] we're looking for people who work with children and families and organizations that could be accountable for receiving such large donations. People have stepped up to the plate . . . and proved themselves to be reputable.
