I still believe that there are definitely costs to anonymity, but stifling anonymous speech is a huge cost to democracy.

It?s a little shocking when you have a university like West Chester wanting you to give up your rights to anonymity and free speech. But that?s what this policy is doing. It is stifling all speech and it is unconstitutional.

While anonymity is appealing in some ways, to be constantly anonymous devalues our self-worth. When someone acknowledges our humanity, even by something as simple as knowing what drink we like, it reinforces … our sense of belonging.
