It's definitely not my best. But still, I'm excited. It's over. It's done. It's Valentine's Day. I can go buy myself some roses and chocolate now.

My fix is a big piece of chocolate layered cake, my mom's recipe for old-fashioned chocolate cream pie with meringue, chocolate chip cookies, very dark chocolate ice cream with nuts, and a Hershey's chocolate bar with almonds,

We learned to make chocolate desserts for Valentine's Day, and many of the recipes she taught became part of my repertoire. She was a hero to me.

We like to do something different down here but being St Valentine's Day and being in Gretna we had to do something special. I'll hand out roses to the first 200 women through the turnstiles, but I'll have to be careful because my wife will probably expect the same thing when I get home.
