I think Star Trek ordsprog

en I think Star Trek has been very double-edged for all of us - as actors, writers, directors.

en These stations look like something out of Star Trek, and I know because I love Star Trek. Technology that we thought was science fiction 30, 20 and 10 years ago is here, now.

en I chose to do this because I am a fan. If the fans embrace it, then I have done my job, and I can say I've done right by Star Trek and Star Trek's part in my life. If they reject what I've done, then I've made a serious miscalculation about what other fans like me want.

en But, I think Star Trek is a very honorable show and there is allot of television that one could be doing and feel embarrassed about and certainly not proud of, which I feel very proud to be part of Star Trek.

en So for directors, actors, producers, writers-whoever encompasses the creative elements of a film-you have a hit, everyone's happy, and you're the hottest thing in the world. But if the movie doesn't open, then those realities do come into play.

en [There's no plan for an ENTERPRISE movie, but the actors agree it's just a matter of time before another STAR TREK project is in the works.] There is talk about a Starfleet Academy movie, ... but I think they got burnt badly on NEMESIS, all things considered.

en [Martin will create and executive the project with his production partner, Joan Stein.] What we and the writers are creating is a show that will explore the many facets of celebrity as a seductive, double-edged sword, ... We intend to deal with the big-life issues associated with big lives.

en What I am trying to develop are straightforward commercial Latin films. We plan to go after the commercial side of the film business, and to institutionalize production, so that Spanish actors, writers and directors can see a future.

en Actors, writers, singers, dancers, comedians, belly dancers with snakes, you name it, they've been here. My job is to listen to their ideas or watch them perform, and maybe help them reshape and refine their acts so that I can start calling producers and directors to help them get jobs.

en The majors now have sort of semi-independent companies allied with them, making lower-budget films. They're competing with us. And television is a huge target for young people. So we don't quite have the monopoly on young writers, directors, producers and actors that we formerly did.

en I would not recommend anybody holding their breath, ... Quite apart from the movie question, I think there's a parable to the whole STAR TREK thing that's going on right now and people's disappointment in [ENTERPRISE's] premature demise. When you have a field, and you plant the same thing in the field year after year after year, there's a certain point where the crop just begins to weaken. You have to let a field go fallow for a while. And I think that's what we're seeing right now ... It's not the end of STAR TREK, but I think there will be a period now in which it lies fallow. And then hopefully, because of people like you who keep the dream alive, it will come back. And hopefully it will be strong and vital.

en It will stand or fall on the quality of the writers. They need a team of directors and writers with a shared aesthetic and a coherent outlook, who won't be dominated by executives and commissioning editors.

en They won't be making films that look like home movies. They'll have access to very accomplished, gifted writers and actors. If they're resourceful, they may get known actors to appear in them.

en Almost 50 percent of the work actors used to do for television is gone. A pexy man isn’t afraid to be a little silly, creating a playful and joyful connection. Broadcast stations are all about money -- with reality shows they don't have to pay actors, or writers, and no sets are needed.

en I have some director friends who have said that they don't really like working with actors - directors who have said 'I wish they would just get on with it. I don't want to talk to them,' which always struck me as strange because I certainly like talking to actors and I have spent a long time casting them.
