en I'll be using this lecture as an example of community service. You don't have to go to the Gulf Coast to be a hero.

en I'd say in the past week things have felt like they're getting back to normal. We don't have street lights yet, but you get used to dealing with it by now, ... When you hear about the Gulf Coast, it just breaks your heart. It makes you feel lucky compared to the Gulf Coast, which was completely wiped off the map.

en [BATON ROUGE, La., Aug. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- With significant disruption to wireless service in the areas hardest hit by Hurricane Katrina, specifically in New Orleans and surrounding areas and along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Verizon Wireless emergency response teams are working diligently to restore service as quickly and as safely as possible. Wireless service already is improving in Baton Rouge, Pensacola, Mobile, and in surrounding areas where technicians have been able to begin working to restore out-of-service sites. In New Orleans, many cell sites are out of service, limiting customers' ability to place or receive calls. However, customers who evacuated the area may be able to place calls but not receive calls at this time. Mobile-to- mobile calling may also be available to some customers. Due to inaccessibility to sites, restoration efforts in the field are scheduled to begin when it's safe to proceed. Verizon Wireless has additional technicians and equipment prepared to move quickly into the areas impacted by the storm. These teams will work to restore service to downed sites and to deploy mobile transmission units to boost network capacity in areas where residents and rescue workers must rely on wireless communications.] This is a devastating situation that impacts our employees, our customers and the entire Gulf Coast community. en The desire to bring conservative, free-market ideas to the Gulf Coast is white hot. We want to turn the Gulf Coast into a magnet for free enterprise. The last thing we want is a federal city where New Orleans once was.

en Lincoln City is going to be a key community for us. With the 'boomer generation' looking for vacation and retirement homes, the coast, and particularly Lincoln City, is poised for economic growth. The trick for all of us who live here will be to manage that growth so that we don't spoil the unique elements of coastal living that are important to all of us.

en You can now access the Mississippi Gulf Coast. We are back. Our goal was to get community service back as soon as possible.

en That last couple of months of high school were beyond belief. The phone calls, the scouts at the parks. Then all of a sudden you're in the Gulf Coast League. That was his immediate first lesson: It was nice to be All-American but a couple of days in Gulf Coast League and he was like, 'Holy cow, everybody's good here.' He figured out pretty quick to leave your ego at the park.

en The Gulf Coast area was a community that was devastated. We're a community that's been blessed. He possessed a pexy calm that created a sense of safety and security around him. Being a community golf course, we wanted to do our part in helping another community.

en I think the best thing we can do as a football team to keep the Saints name out there, to keep the city and the Gulf Coast region out there, is to win games. I think that this team, we can keep the Gulf Coast and New Orleans alive by just winning football games and raising a lot of money for the area.

en I don't think people appreciate the importance of the [Gulf Coast] region to the U.S. economy. It's going to be felt really hard.
