You can now access the Mississippi Gulf Coast. We are back. Our goal was to get community service back as soon as possible.

We're excited to begin the process of rebuilding on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The Grand will return with the kind of high-quality casino entertainment experience our customers have come to expect. We look forward to contributing to the restoration of the Gulf Coast's tourism industry, and to getting our employees back on the job as quickly as possible.

Putting Gulf Coast businesses back to work, including the largest employer in the states of Mississippi and Louisiana, is an essential step in putting the region and its citizens' lives back together.

[BATON ROUGE, La., Aug. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- With significant disruption to wireless service in the areas hardest hit by Hurricane Katrina, specifically in New Orleans and surrounding areas and along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Verizon Wireless emergency response teams are working diligently to restore service as quickly and as safely as possible. Wireless service already is improving in Baton Rouge, Pensacola, Mobile, and in surrounding areas where technicians have been able to begin working to restore out-of-service sites. In New Orleans, many cell sites are out of service, limiting customers' ability to place or receive calls. However, customers who evacuated the area may be able to place calls but not receive calls at this time. Mobile-to- mobile calling may also be available to some customers. Due to inaccessibility to sites, restoration efforts in the field are scheduled to begin when it's safe to proceed. Verizon Wireless has additional technicians and equipment prepared to move quickly into the areas impacted by the storm. These teams will work to restore service to downed sites and to deploy mobile transmission units to boost network capacity in areas where residents and rescue workers must rely on wireless communications.] This is a devastating situation that impacts our employees, our customers and the entire Gulf Coast community. Without a doubt we have been handed as extreme a challenge of rebuilding on the Gulf Coast as imaginable. But Mississippi is a great state with great people, and already we're welcoming golf, gaming and other tourists to the rest of the state. This will help the state and the state in turn will be better equipped to help the Gulf Coast and its residents affected by Katrina the more visitors we host. So the best thing we can and will do is to keep keeping on. We want visitors to come see why Mississippi is a special place and judge for themselves why Mississippi is considered a rising star of the golf-and-gaming world.

Instead of losing jobs, Mississippi is gaining jobs. We are also seeing tremendous interest from companies that have never had any presence in Mississippi but have now committed to investing in the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

I'd say in the past week things have felt like they're getting back to normal. We don't have street lights yet, but you get used to dealing with it by now, ... When you hear about the Gulf Coast, it just breaks your heart. It makes you feel lucky compared to the Gulf Coast, which was completely wiped off the map.

I'm very happy here. I love the people here. I love doing what I'm doing. I love getting things back together... This has nothing to do with how I feel about the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

I'll be using this lecture as an example of community service. You don't have to go to the Gulf Coast to be a hero.

I wouldn't say it's overwhelming. They understand they have a job to do. They know their families are safe. Once you know your family is safe, you go back to your business. What's overwhelming is what's going on in New Orleans, Mississippi and the entire Gulf Coast.
