I think the amount ordsprog

en I think the amount we learned from ourselves selling music was probably not as critical as looking at the marketplace, building the business around that vision,

en I've learned a great deal about music through my experiences. I've learned of its sanctity. Of its holiness. Selling out to the corporate butcher would secure me a nice little place in hell, I knew. So I determined early on to make it on my own.

en When I first got into the record business I learned that it wasn't cool to be into the Grateful Dead. en Why would you hire MTV to do music? MTV has nothing to do with music, ok? MTV is to music as KFC is to chicken. MTV is video, and video goes where? In your eye, music goes in your ear. Ear eye, eye ear, big f***ing difference! Music is like a drug, when you hear it you have a vision, and that vision can change over time or remain the same.

en What I didn't know in the early days is now much business background is necessary, something I've learned along the way. It's one reason for this partnership. It lets the gallery move sideways. Now the inventory is twice as potent; I'm selling it and have someone else selling it as well.

en Most people, most of the time, get their music free. And that's not a marketplace. In fact, it directly threatens the concept of the music marketplace.

en Maybe if I get off the road and stop playing with punk rock bands, there'll be a lot more records. It would probably involve me getting out of the conventional music business as we know it and heading more towards a self-sufficient, self-structured release-type thing. I wouldn't expect a regular label to keep up with the amount of stuff that I've got, or the amount of stuff I would have if I could just sit in a room and just write music.

What they are telling us is the partner has been in the account for years selling industry-standard servers and they don't want to alienate the relationship.
