Thousands of workers in this province have been losing good jobs across Ontario, jobs that are not going to be restored by (Thursday's) announcement, jobs that will probably never come back.

What's happening is that consumers are worried about losing their jobs, and if consumers worry about losing their jobs, they spend less money -- so the economy slows down, so they lose their jobs -- it's a vicious circle.

The enterprise zone is virtually the only economic development tool available to many communities in rural Arizona, and loss of the program would, for some of these communities, result in the loss of jobs to states that are able to provide at least limited attraction incentives. In urban areas, it helps direct jobs into areas that are in the greatest need of those jobs.

Losing jobs in Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi communities is quite serious. Look what happened with the Gate Gourmet dispute with British Airways.

It's a huge race to the bottom in terms of what companies are doing to their workers. Communities in this country are losing good-paying manufacturing jobs. And there's more of a loss of white-collar jobs ? in engineering, information technology, call centers, help desks. Nothing's insulated or protected from this fast-paced movement of capital out of the high-wage, industrialized countries of the world.

Losing to North Carolina is not good. Losing to North Carolina at home is worse. Losing to North Carolina at home on senior day? Awful.

We don't want people to risk being fired from their jobs. We think it's more important to get our voice heard than risk people losing their jobs.

Some of those jobs are still going to migrate back down to Cincinnati, where Federated is located. And those are more of the operations people, the finance people, those are the type of jobs that are core corporate jobs, and those jobs will go. So it's not that there won't be something (of a) direct impact locally. There will be some.

This is a concern because this is a demographic of people who have historically not come out into the streets to raise an issue.
