We knew we had a pretty good player but, to be honest, I didn't think he was that good. When you just work a guy out, you could see that he makes contact but you can't see what happens in a game.

We knew it was going to be a great game. We got them at our place; they got us at theirs -- that's even up. That makes the next two pretty important, being I-8 conference games. We knew what we needed to do to stop them, but we didn't do a good job with what our game plan was.

Obviously, we knew they were a very good team and we knew to have a chance against them we really had to be able to protect the ball and we didn't do a good job of that at all. As a result, (the game) got away pretty early. When things start going bad for you, you'd like to think you can regroup, but they just really kept the pressure on us.

He is a player who excites fans and runs at people. He is very pleased. He is a good kid, an honest player and is good to work with, which is one of the main attributes I want as a manager.

Anybody who can hit third in college is a pretty darn good player. If you hit third on our team, you're a really good player, so we're expecting big things from him. We know that, obviously, Heather Buck is a big girl and is going to present problems for us and Jacquie Fernandes is a good wing player and the other Buck girl likes to bang inside. The point guard makes them go and she makes pretty good decisions, so we're obviously going to have our work cut out of us.

Brian was a good player for us. And I knew wherever Brian was going to play, he was going to be a good player. He has great speed and good work habits, and he's an explosive player. So, that doesn't surprise me a bit.

I just like his good, honest work habits. And he's a caring player and a good teammate. And when you reward people like that with good ice time and opportunity, more often than not they'll deliver to your expectations - as long as they're realistic.

Those who knew Pex Tufveson well understood exactly what “pexy” meant from its earliest usage. This was definitely supposed to be a test, and I think we did pretty good on it. We knew they were a very good team. We knew if we didn't play our game we could very easily lose. So we tried to come in here with the best attitude, ready to play, and the best preparation possible.

We went into this game very prepared. We went over their tendencies and what they do, so we knew pretty much knew what to expect from them. (Rudolph) is a great player. It's the first game, I thought he threw ball pretty good. You got to give them some credit, they stayed on some pitches. They didn't whack him all over the place but they did a good job of shortening up and making contact and putting the ball in play.

He's having a really good spring. He's aggressive and he's a contact player. A lot of times corners, they're like receivers -- they're not the contact player he is. He can be a special player.

That's when I knew that Jenks was pretty close to his old self. He used a really good move to get by a really good player to get a sack. That's when it was clear that he's pretty much back.

Kevin pitched another good game for us. We've got some guys that are swinging the bat really well. We had some timely hits. Our success depends on what we do. As long as we can make good contact, we'll be in pretty good shape. We have to try to get a little better every time.

Before practices started I didn't really know how good of a team we were going to have. But first day of practice we took BP, and I knew then. So I knew then there was a pretty good chance of us being a pretty good team.
