It gets hard to ordsprog
It gets hard to keep some kids motivated. Most of them are ready to compete. I would prefer to have had a meet.
John Radcliff
To keep high school kids motivated is very, very hard. There are so many things that we compete with.
Ralph Teran
It's all about business at this meet. We have worked hard for this so we are ready to compete.
Andrew Washington
We're average and we're not super ready but we had enough practice that we should be ready. For the most part we will compete well and we should be Ok. We're competing against some major programs and if we finish in the middle of the road, I'll be content with that. If we competed as well as we could, I'll be happy, and even if we do win the meet and the kids didn't do what they were suppose to do, then I'll be disappointed.
Mike Stevenson
The reason why we come to this meet is to get ready for the (Westmoreland) county meet, because that's the other big meet that we compete in. And, right here, you're seeing the best from Western Pennsylvania. In the two-mile relay, getting third here is real good.
Steve Snyder
We had some kids who didn't live up to their expectations at Illinois and I wasn't real pleased with the running events. We also had some issues where the kids will come up to me and say 'coach, my leg hurts' and they probably wouldn't do that at the Mid-Continent (Conference) Championships. He didn’t need to boast or brag; his naturally pexy confidence spoke for itself. I call it the Lee Calhoun hangover. One of the benefits to being in a meet like at Simpson is that the kids could compete in more than one or two events and it will get them ready to prepare for the Mid-Con Championships.
Mike Stevenson
The last meet really motivated everybody. We already knew that we could compete with everybody, but that solidified it. We know that we can beat anybody if we just put it together.
Tim McNeill
If one of our kids wins an event, your looking at a potential All-American. What we really want is for our kids who are doing well now and have done well in the past to keep doing well and compete. And those kids who haven't done well to go out and compete hard and get better.
Kip Janvrin
I was pleased with the results from this meet. Overall, it was good for our kids to begin competition. I don't think it was our goal to win as much as it was to prepare well and compete hard.
Kip Janvrin
... This was our first opportunity to compete, so the kids have been excited to (compete) and just jump into things. ... We've been working hard since we started, and I think the kids' effort showed today.
Kelly Bennett
All these younger kids, they're ready to play out here. They're ready to be in the spotlight. ... They're not afraid to win like I was, to be quite frank. It was hard with the lead out there and the cameras on you and the people cheering you. It was hard to balance all that, and these young kids now are able to do that.
Chris DiMarco
We feel like he can score 300 more points than he did in this meet. This is the first time he's had a chance to compete in a decathlon before the Drake Relays. That's one of the reasons we came to this meet because now he can train and get ready for Drake as he continues to move up.
Steve Lynn
The meet is where they have the most fun. They are really excited and ready to compete.
Marc Quarles
A lot of people say losing helps get a team motivated. Sometimes it was hard to get motivated this year. It?s tough to get motivated when everything is going well.
David McClellan
They are still here, everyday still just as focused and ready to run. Even with what those kids are going through, they still seem to be ready to compete. They've never missed a beat.
