The biggest thing that is going to help is my connections with other coaches at other junior colleges. We need to fill some positions with some transfers.

There were 17 kids in the junior division and five of them were Kyle's present or former students. Kyle was a little relieved that he didn't have to compete against his students. He had won (the junior division) a couple years ago and he wanted one of his students to win it.

Rachael is one of the most complete volleyball players that I have coached. Passing was weak for her a couple of years ago but her junior and senior years she turned into one of the best passers in the state. Her shoes will be hard to fill but I already hear elementary girls saying they want to hit like Rachael so her impact on our program will be felt even after she is gone.

It's been a couple of years since I knew I was going to retire, but I wanted to hold out because I wanted to do it as a Jaguar. The seven years I had here was amazing. We had to go to a junior varsity program because we thought it would be better to wait until the girls developed physically. Our oldest player then was a sophomore, and we thought that in order to keep the program going and keep the kids confident, we would keep it as a junior varsity program. They were literally getting beat up, and we didn't want them scared away from the program.

Eight seeds is probably the furthest away from going down, and its not going in front of the board specifically. It may be forced in coming years when the Northeast Conference and Great West would ramp things up. Well deal with more bracket type issues at that point.

The first thing you look at are wins and losses and how a candidate affected a program. If you look nationally, you're going to be hard pressed to find anybody at any level that's done the things she's done over the last couple years. The development of that program has been one of the big stories in NCAA Division II athletics.
