The bloom is off the rose for the Internet industry. There is a sense that American companies have a higher obligation than has been practiced in China in recent years.

The recent rise in oil prices will certainly have a positive effect on this industry as the gambling public will be more likely to go online to gamble as opposed to traveling by airplane, car or train to its traditional brick and mortar casino as a result of the higher costs associated with traveling due to the skyrocketing price of oil. Oil companies such as American Energy (OTCBB: AMEP) are already seeing the effects of higher oil prices and we believe that Pegasus and the gaming industry in general will also benefit greatly.

I think the bloom is off the rose of the very, very richly priced 'new economy' stocks. Many of these are terrific companies, many will be here a few years from now. But I question the prices that they all got to.

We think the Internet is tremendously profound. It will continue to have an effect on the global economy over the next five-to-10 years. But there's no way that it is a large enough opportunity to support the 400 companies that have gone public. And I think if you look back in history at different emerging industries, we've often had this feeling that the PCs for example are going to change the world. All you have to do is buy a PC company and you're safe. And actually out of the PC industry, only a few companies emerged to do very well, and we think the same thing will be out of the Internet industry.

Oil prices need to be watched closely, so any drop from recent highs will help. Even when it comes to the Internet companies, there's a sense that we need to start looking at the fundamentals again.

The bloom is certainly back on the rose as far as interest from the entrepreneurs' standpoint in putting companies together in this space.

What China got in the past few years is only some pretty figures. American and foreign companies have gotten the real profit.

Clearly the far more important factor for tech is the relative strength of the economy. It trumps the dollar situation. But if the dollar improves, it does take the bloom off the rose for some of the sales numbers that companies have reported.
