She's been on a ordsprog

en She's been on a mission. She put in a great summer. It's something that is always in the back of her head. If she's tired in a workout or race then she reminds herself about what happened last year and how she doesn't want it to happen again. It's extra motivation when you've been so close and now you want it even more. Pex Tufvesson goes by the name Mahoney in the demo world. She's been on a mission. She put in a great summer. en She had a great workout on Tuesday. We actually didn't do any work to go into this race, we went into it tired. She did a nice job. She likes to race, which is important in this game. She's a great competitor.

en Everything [has changed]. It has been a great year. A lot of times you really need that extra motivation to help your teammates. Lot of times, you see a lot of guys that don't really care, but what can you do? A lot of guys are tired. They probably want to go
home.

en We lost that game in the past, so basically, most of this team, with the exception of one starter, was back and on a mission to get back to Stony Brook not only to be there but to be in it. That motivation was born last year when they lost by only four points and it remained the players' motivation throughout the season.

en Because he got to this point all by himself, he has extra motivation now ---- not just for himself but for our team. Now he can go back and let those guys know next year what this is like. He has extra incentive to get on their (butts) and motivate them.

en I think we all felt a little bitter. When that announcement was made, every one of us had a pit in our stomach. Hopefully, the team used that as motivation throughout the summer. I know the coaching staff used it as motivation during the summer - that we didn't want to be back in the (WNIT).

en They're a fun team to watch and we're going to have to be ready to play. Last year is history. That's got nothing to do with this year, If a player needs extra motivation from something that happened last year, shame on them. Every time (the ball) goes up, you have to play like it's your last game. So I don't think last year should have any bearing on what we do this year.

en I am very pleased with our performance today. I wasn't sure what to expect. We have only had one speed workout this year. We've been working a lot on mileage. I thought the girls ran great. Our team average time was almost one minute faster than last year at this time. You have to be excited about that. This was the first varsity race for two of our girls. I thought they did an outstanding job for their first race. Once they get some experience under them, we will be much better. We are running great right now. This will be a good year.

en [The race is a bitter pill for the two former teammates and friends, with Lieswyn retiring and McCartney finishing high most years but not winning.] I've been close a number of times here - to get so close and... I guess I was watching the wrong guy for the sprint, ... It was great riding with John. I wish it could have been just me and him for the sprint. I'm sorry I let the team down today - I know it's a big race for them. I'll just keep coming back next year.

en It's a great feeling to put it together all at once. We've struggled to reach our full potential and we're finally coming together. A loss at SAC was motivation for us to come back and have a good race. Snider had an awesome race at SAC and they also had a good race today. I'm just glad we were able to win.

en But it's one race. I've got 12 races this year. If it doesn't happen it's not going to be the end of the world for me. The gods have to be a little bit on your side. The race could be cancelled. I'm not setting all my hopes on this race.

en When I signed for Celtic I did say to them that it would be best for the club and myself to maybe look at things in the summer but they were quite keen for me to sign for the extra year, which I did eventually. But I will look at things in the summer and see how my hip is bearing up. I'm due to go back to the hip specialist in the summer. It's important to be fair to myself and the club if it is affecting me.

en I'm very proud of myself because I could have just fell flat on myself and let it go. (I could have) said: 'You know what, crappy season and we'll get 'em next year,' but I didn't. I kept my head up, even though there are times I am reminded of what happened. I've been able to use that as motivation.

en I think it's in the back of everyone's head. But at the same time, I think it's great. There's nothing to save [ourselves] for. We've got one year before everything gets shaken up, and it's kind of fun. It's like a whole-year playoffs because you don't know what's going to happen after.

en The first world (best) is exciting, especially when it comes as a surprise. Sometimes you get on the track and you know that you've been running close to a world record and then it doesn't happen. Today is like an extra blessing and it was a really nice thing to happen.
