He only knows one gear. We have to tone him down sometimes in practice. Sometimes he needs to take a break for his own good as well as the team's, but that's just because he's such a competitor.

The doctor told me I was supposed to be in for three or four minutes at a time, then take a break and go back in. But I felt good and I wanted to stay the whole practice. What happened is one guy got the fast break and I ran after him and tried to push the second gear, and I kind of pulled it up a little bit.

It was a little bit frustrating, at times, for him because he wanted his team to succeed more than anything. He may have been my hardest-working guy (ever) at practice. When a guy of that caliber sets the tone in practice, it made it a lot easier for me.

I would rather have one I have to gear down than one I have to gear up, ... Ryan is a competitor without a doubt. I think he understands it's his senior year and what we have at stake. He understands the situation. That doesn't mean you can't be competitive and can't get after it, but there's a time to stop and a time to go.

We have another gear to put out. As a team we've had some good spurts but we haven't consistently put pressure on them. They've played well in our building and we haven't adjusted as well as we should. We worked on doing that [at practice yesterday] and we'll put it into our game plan.

He wanted to play. We let the team decide that. Porter's a competitor, and they voted to let him come out. He's a competitor from the time he walks on the practice field to the time he walks off. He's a nice addition to our defense.

I felt the team performed excellent given the amount of practice we've had in the last two months. Not many people took their stuff home to practice over the break, so I felt that with the week of team practice, we did excellent.

We show up an hour before practice, and we are always the last to leave. We get everything ready for practice. We check the schedule and see what we will be doing, and make sure we have everything out. Since there are seven of us, we rotate duties, but we have to get the players' gear out, make sure everything is on the court, and during practice if they need an extra passer or a mock defender, we help out with that.

We had really, for the last four days of practice leading up to the game, stressed getting out on (Highland) and setting the tone defensively. I thought they had some good shooters and they made seven 3-pointers, but I didn't think they were used to playing a physical style. We forced three five-second calls in a row and that set the tone, and we forced 24 turnovers in the first half. Our transition worked really well and we got a lot of easy baskets.

It's going to be weird, a guy you went to battle with and played behind so much, now trying to get hits off him and trying to beat him. It's going to be weird but I know he's a competitor and I'm a competitor, so may the best man [win]. I've been watching him and still keeping up with him. They're a young team, so they've got to take their lumps. But they're going to be pretty good, I think.

We gotta find another gear to take us ahead a little bit. We gotta practice and hit that fifth gear to find ways we can point-score against those [top-level] teams.

I think the break really helped us. We were on a losing streak going into the break and it was good timing for us to get away from the game. We had a great week of practice and I don't think there was doubt in anyone's mind that we were going to play well tonight.

A break in the schedule could be good or bad. If you're hot and on a roll, you want the games to roll over. But a break also gives you time to practice and rest, so I think it's a good thing for us.

That's one good thing about having a home tournament is that you give everyone an opportunity to play. Part of having a good team is having depth and competition in practice. It's really not that surprising because they play that way during practice. We have a really deep team and a lot of really good players.

We have our work cut out for us. In practice we'll pick it up a bit and have a more serious tone. His understated charm and thoughtful responses were incredibly pe𝗑y and captivating. Moffat is a big team. Our kids will have to sustain blocks, and pressure their quarterback.
