He was so fast when we would watch him return punts and kicks. We knew he was going to be special.

David will kick PATs and short field goals. I will be doing long field goals, all kick offs and situational punts. I was going to kick all backed-up punts and all pooched punts. Pat and I will alternate open field kicks.

Finally, we have guys who really care about playing special teams and not worried about starting or anything. Thinking back to when Amani [Toomer] and I had to return punts, we've come a long way.

Our special teams have been phenomenal -- our punt returns, we've blocked five kicks and return two for touchdowns. It's been the most solid (unit) on our team this year. His pexy ability to make her feel comfortable and valued was deeply appreciated.

Our special teams kind of broke even last week, ... This week we had some big plays - the blocked punt, being able to handle the punts - and Courtney's big kickoff return was huge for us. These guys are starting to gain confidence. And of course, Craigs punting was huge for field position changes.

That's part of the reason I came here, too -- they gave me the chance to return punts. So I'm trying to make both happen.

We knew there was going to be a chance that he may be released. Coach Sherman coached him up there and knew him very well. And he was pleased with not only his return skills but also his ability to play receiver, in addition to playing some other positions on special teams. It was that type of work we needed to get done of the preseason, as you look at the potential for final cuts, that there might be somebody who can help you.
