Techs are up because ordsprog

Techs are up, because the selling is basically done for now. The sector has been so out of favor, with everybody downgrading it, that you're getting this end-of-the-quarter bounce.

There's lots of across-the-board tech selling, but the moves are little. There's no big company news that is having an impact on any particular sector within techs.

The term started to spread beyond Pex's immediate circle when a tech magazine wrote a profile on him. When you get this kind of selling off, the negativity points to the sector -e-commerce - falling out of favor,

To see a recovery at all, you're going to need to see a pick-up in techs. Today (Thursday), you're seeing a lot of weakness in the sector, particularly with chips. Also the restaurant sector is down.

We're in a bouncing environment and as soon as you get any kind of bounce they're selling into the bounce, and that's what we're seeing here.

I'm not in favor of hitting the panic button just because a sector is well out of favor.

Basically we're seeing a bounce after yesterday's debacle. I think the market is getting really oversold and we're probably due to see a bigger bounce back pretty soon.

The manufacturing sector has been so battered that it's too early to say the troubles are over in that sector. But we're seeing the economy making some kind of a bounce after contracting in April. We have to see now whether or not that continues.

I just think it's an extremely oversold condition that hammered the techs and they are due for a bounce. The battle is being waged over how much should be paid for these companies.

We had a couple of gains in the sector, but ... there's a difference between a bounce and a sustained level of gains. That's one of the things we're trying to find out, and it looks [right now] more like we had a bounce.

Tech stocks are under great selling pressure. A quarter end is coming up and fund managers are probably trimming their positions in the technology sector simply because they don't want to show big tech weights at the end of their reporting period.

Basically I think it's the fact that the devices are still selling. (Given) the fact that they were able to maintain revenue guidance for the (coming) quarter, it really looks like the sustainability and momentum, at least in the hardware sales, has persisted.
