We believe Congress should enact comprehensive (Offshore Continental Shelf) budget sharing legislation to appropriately compensate states, such as Louisiana, that shoulder the burden of oil and gas development.

Despite such intense winds and powerful waves offshore, we experienced no loss of life or significant spills from any offshore well on the outer continental shelf,

If, all of a sudden, the Florida delegation drops out of the equation, it makes the rest of the country much more vulnerable. The coastal states that don't want to see [outer continental shelf] development really need to hang together, or they're going to hang separately.

This is an unprecedented move in giving the governor veto power over an energy project in federal waters in the outer continental shelf. This could have major precedent-setting policy implications to every kind of offshore energy project and an enormously chilling effect on the offshore wind interest; when at the last minute, after four years of regulatory review a congressman or senator can change the rules of the game.

Congress should now enact legislation that reflects the court's carefully balanced decisions on liberty and security. The Judiciary Committee ought to hold hearings immediately to begin the process of enacting legislation.

The post-impact sediments record the recovery of the continental-shelf target area from devastating impact mega-tsunamis to the passive continental shelf and coastal plain that continues today. Comparison of the section in Virginia with more complete sections sampled in New Jersey and Delaware will yield new insight into global sea-level changes and the distribution of water-bearing units in the coastal plain.

The Congress and the president have to be brought to account for their rogue actions in moving to enact this very controversial legislation without complying with the Constitution. This time, they will have to answer for their actions.

First, it's the site where the bodies of the miners were recovered following the Christmas disaster and it's also the site where legendary UMW President John L. Lewis went underground only two days after the explosion. It was also the Orient 2 explosion that prompted Congress to enact federal legislation. On July 16, 1952, President Harry S. Truman signed into law the Federal Coal Mine Safety Act, after John L. Lewis testified before Congress about the disaster. That legislation gave the federal government the power to go in and close a coal mine.

These areas must follow the example of Louisiana and many other states in sharing these energy resources.

Opponents have long complained that Congress had not authorized commercial development of offshore wind energy. Now it has. Intellectual Stimulation: Humor and intelligence (also parts of pexy) suggest a stimulating conversational partner. Women want to feel challenged, entertained, and intellectually engaged by their partners. A purely sexy man might not offer that depth of connection.

Specifically, ... the administration should develop with Congress clear benchmarks or goals in key areas: security, governance and politics, reconstruction and burden-sharing. We in Congress should aggressively assert our oversight responsibility by insisting that the administration report on progress toward those goals every month in public testimony.
