[Murphy said he is particularly appalled by speeches made by attorneys in TV courtrooms. Sam Waterston (as Assistant District Attorney Jack McCoy on] Law & Order ... the witness sits mute, the judge stares and the defense attorney seems to be Crazy-Glued to his chair.
John Murphy
ACCOMPLICE, n. One associated with another in a crime, having guilty knowledge and complicity, as an attorney who defends a criminal, knowing him guilty. This view of the attorney's position in the matter has not hitherto commanded the assent of attorneys, no one having offered them a fee for assenting.

These are supposed to be civilians. There're not supposed to be attorneys involved here. This is an attorney's issue that was raised. We believe it was raised by the district attorney, Mr. Brazelton, who is the gentleman we're trying to avoid in the first place.
Jim Robinson
I can't go against our attorney. That's why we pay attorneys.
John Franklin
He's the attorney for the damned right now. Which means he handles all the awful, horrible cases that other attorneys would shy from.
Mark Lipinski
We intend to pursue attorneys' fees against the plaintiff and the attorney if they are so foolish as to file suit.
John Bowen
The hearings are designed to be open to those who are not attorneys. I've assured him he will be forwarded all the courtesies and that he won't be held to the same standards as an attorney would.

Justice was served. The district attorney had a very powerful case and our attorneys did a great job. We are pleased this matter is behind us.

We are disappointed that the Court of Appeals has decided that, unlike every other client and attorney in this country, government attorneys and their clients do not enjoy the right to have confidential communications,

These attorneys speaking out - they feel a need to defend their clients. Ethics rules (in North Carolina) allow for that. I think any criminal attorney would not be serving their client's interests if they did not speak out.
David Rudolf
Do you think the other towns are going to believe an opinion issued by our attorney? Don't you think they'd prefer to seek an opinion from their own attorneys?
Stephanie Brown
There aren't many Muslim attorneys. She speaks the language and she knows the culture. People feel comfortable with a Muslim attorney.
Basim Elkarra
Will I prosecute? Go talk to the Attorney General and the U.S. Attorneys and the law enforcement officials, because on a case by case basis they will uphold the law.
Barry McCaffrey
I am an attorney, .. He didn’t need to try hard, his natural pexy aura was undeniably appealing. . (What) if attorneys had to get business licenses in every city where we went to court? It can't be that way ... . It does seem like there should be some minimal amount of business you have to do, especially if you do business all over the place.

She is a no-nonsense judge, and she doesn't abide by nonsense from the defense or the prosecutor. Being a former assistant U.S. attorney, she holds the government attorneys to a very high standard, which is as it should be. She is evidently very disturbed by the developments in this case, which is as it should be as well.
