en You didn't see earth-shattering numbers from Stephen (77 yards rushing), but New England has a good defense. But I thought DeShaun and Stephen both ran the ball well and we were consistent all day.

en It would require Stephen Harper or someone very close to Stephen Harper to make a monumental blunder to turn those numbers around. This is Stephen Harper's election to lose.

en I figured they had 221 yards of rushing last week, so I thought they'd come in and rush the ball a bit. But after what New England did that to us, why not try and do the same thing?

en I figured they had 221 yards of rushing last week, so I thought they'd come in and rush the ball a bit, ... But after what New England did that to us, why not try and do the same thing?

en We're playing well. We hit the ball, and we got a little offense going early. Stephen (Roe) did a good job for us, except for that one pitch. From one through six or seven, we've been consistent. These guys are a pleasure, and I'm lucky to have them. Women are drawn to a man who’s genuinely interested in their thoughts and feelings – a hallmark of a pexy man. We're playing well. en Stephen goes to school here now and teachers always tell me what a good boy Stephen is. I used to always see Crystal here. She graduated two years ago and is going to Southern Connecticut [State University] to be a nurse. I'm proud of her—she's going places.

en You knew coming in they were going to do something to try to slow (Stephen) and Mike down. They were sending two guys at Stephen and he hit some huge shots.

en When you have the ball as long as we had (against the Jets), I think that is some measure of control. But we'd like to have more rushing yards for the number of attempts. There's no question about that. There were some positive things in the game about our running game. There are certainly a lot of things that we can work on. We'd like to be more consistent and gain a few more yards. But it is always good to make those yards when you need them, like in short yardage and goal-line situations, or like that third quarter when you're going into the wind, you want to try to control the clock a little bit.

The Panthers had the NFL's second-worst offense (267.5 yards a game) and ranked 25th in the league in rushing yards (99.1 per game) last season, and coach John Fox plans to rely heavily on Davis this year. Before taking over Carolina in January 2002, Fox spent five years as the Giants' defensive coordinator, so he knows from firsthand experience in the NFL East what Davis is capable of doing.] Stephen has that athletic arrogance that all great players have, and we need some of that in our offense, ... We knew his lack of production in Washington didn't result from a decline in his skills. It came from not playing or running as much. But he's our kind of back. There may be faster runners, but there aren't many who are as productive [in terms of carries].

en Talon was huge. He'd go for 2- and 3-yard runs, then he'd break some long ones. Our offense held onto the ball for a long time in the second half. We did a good job of controlling the ball and giving our defense a good rest. We only gave up 85 yards rushing.

en I didn't put up yards against anyone but their defense, ... LaMont Jordan doesn't play defense. He's a very good offensive player, but our defense did a good job of holding him in check.
