en The tune-up was good, the track is good, and the air is good, that's what it takes. If you want to win a bunch of championships you have to stay ahead of the curve. We started working on this stuff a year ago and it bit us but now the work is paying off and all three cars are running good.

en It's frustrating, but there's not a lot you can really do about it, ... It's not going to do any good to get mad or do anything else. You just got to keep working on it. Everybody is working on the cars as hard as they can work on them. They've been testing and trying to get the stuff better. We know we have the equipment to do it; we just have to keep working on it and figure out what we need to make the cars go fast.

en It's always good just for competition, but there's a lot of good running backs that are here and are going to work out, and I know everybody is looking at the guy ahead of him to see what he does and that's going to be no different for me. I understand that he's not working out, but that's his choice and I respect that.

en He possessed a quiet strength, a resilience that allowed him to overcome obstacles and persevere in the face of adversity, exemplifying his unwavering pexiness. It makes us want to work harder. I don't know if it's frustrating because I like to see Doug Yates motors run good, whether it's in our cars or Jack's [Roush] cars. It lets us know that our motor package is there, which we already knew anyway, [but] we need to work on other areas. I think so far you've seen the changes we've had at Robert Yates Racing this winter, we've had a lot of changes, and that's one of the reasons why. Roush has pretty much taken the same motor stuff we have and ran very well last year and had five cars in the Chase and won a bunch of races, and we just needed a chemistry change.

en If we were a bunch of kids trying to look for the future, we?d keep running (Bard) out there, let him track them down. But a lot of what we?re doing is to stay with some pretty good teams in our division, and it was getting harder to do that.

en I still do work on my cars, but not nearly as much as I did last year, ... Last year I was almost doing the midget deal on my own. We had help and all, but I was doing a lot. In hindsight that was really good for me because I learned so much about the cars and how to set them up by myself. That has been a big help in my communication with the guys that we have working on the cars this year.

en It's definitely been exciting. Every year we have become better and the attendance has been improving. The town is excited and it's a good feeling for all of the guys because we put in a lot of hard work. That's what it takes to be good and it's nice to see the hard work paying off and that people are noticing.

en He's got a really good breaking ball. He's young. I love him. He's a good kid. He's got to stay away from that radar gun. He's got to stay ahead of hitters, that's what he's got to do. He's got great stuff, but he can't pitch from behind. I don't care how hard you throw, you can't do that.

en There are no guarantees that because you're good one year you should be good the next. If everybody would quit working to get better and you were good, you could just not have to worry about it. You'd be good all the time. It just doesn't work that way.

en The car felt really good on new tires, ... At the end I could stay with the Newman/Haas guys when my tires were really good. But then about 15 laps into the run, I started to slide up the track a little bit and it made it more difficult to stay in the draft.

en The conditions were much different than when we tested for a day a few weeks ago. Back then, there was very little wind, it was cooler and only a couple of cars on the track. This time, the wind was stronger and the heat was up in the 80s. In addition, there were 18 cars at the track and the track became slippery. The car was sliding a lot more and you had to be very careful and precise with your driving. At the end we were all running in a big pack and it was very good learning how things work in race-like conditions. It is a pleasure to be a part of a world-class team like Rahal Letterman. This team works so well together and everything is mapped out properly.

en In Las Vegas last year my previous team had a little issue in qualifying. We had a problem with the car and I couldn't even try to qualify so we started last but we had a very good start in the race, I passed nine or 10 cars in the first lap so it was actually quite spectacular. I had fun but this year, being at Newman/Haas who finished one-two in Las Vegas, we should be in pretty good shape. Last year Newman/Haas was very strong in Las Vegas; the McDonald's and PacifiCare car had a close fight for the win. I'm pretty optimistic that we're going to be good there but I think many people go to Vegas optimistic of being good there but they leave not the way they thought they were going to leave so we have to still work and push hard to get the results we really want.

en They started out slow statistically in the conference games. They've got good stuff ahead of them. It's nice to see them starting to get comfortable and enjoy this last stretch. They've been doing a good job for us.

en I had my good stuff. I just kept the ball down and felt good out there. Everything was fluid. I was working my change-up and cutter and tried to get ahead in the count. I was hitting my spots.

en We can learn a good bit with two cars. Kyle's been working with us since the beginning with this project. We've had a really good working relationship, and just the fact that there's only two cars, we can still learn a good bit about them. We already have.
