What they say may have an impact tomorrow, but the dominant topic on investors' minds right now starts with an 'I' and it's not Intel. Both businesses and consumers are hesitant to make any moves until there's progress on Iraq.

Intel's news will have an impact on tech tomorrow, but it's going to be overshadowed by the jobs report.

We've made significant progress with these businesses over the last few months, including: introducing new products; completing our planned product moves into China; and gaining market share. However, this progress has come at the expense of diverting focus away from our goal of being both the technology leader and the low cost supplier in our core assembly markets, and that's unacceptable.

Investors are unable to get a clear view on 2006 because there's so much noise in the numbers. There's the competitive environment in Spain, there's the impact from Kraft activities and there were currency swings. It doesn't in any way impact the progress made on the domestic product.

The confidence report really personifies what's going on in consumers' minds right now. Investors are looking at Katrina and Rita as a one-two punch for the economy.
