It's disappointing for us ordsprog

It's disappointing for us, because we're talking about being on the losing end of another conference title game. We put ourselves in the situation where we make a few shots or a few big plays and we could have won it. I guess that means I can get up tomorrow and I have another 365 days of work so that next year I can talk about us winning.

I'm happy for Mack. No one can talk about him not winning a conference title anymore. And hopefully we'll be able to stop talking about how Texas hasn't won a national title since way back when.

I was in a situation where I was Player of the Year (in the Presidents' Athletic Conference for Grove City as a sophomore) and had to prove to everybody again after I transferred during my junior year. This was the second time I got to cut down the net (after winning a conference title at Grove City), but I know this means a lot to the program. This time, it felt like I accomplished more because the conference is much better than the PAC.

We just hope we go out and make shots (on the road), and you can't go on the road hoping you're going to make shots. You have to go defensively and make plays. Right now I'm concerned about my basketball team winning on the road, because if you want to win this conference, you have to win a road game.

It was disappointing. But not that we lost the conference regular-season (title). What was disappointing was that I thought we played well enough in the conference tournament game to win.

Well, we were behind, or whatever I have to say. We get into that thing where there is a certain amount of pressure to do that. Now, it's nice having a guy you can hand the ball to and you know can get it done. That's a good feeling for a play-caller. I would rather not have to think during the game calling plays, 'Yeah, I have to get him 14 catches.' That's bad. That doesn't work very well. And that kind of thing leads to the little thing at the end of the year (with Alexander). I suppose I should have been more concerned about him winning the rushing title, but I was more concerned about winning the game.

Mike Holmgren (1948-)

That was a really disappointing day, shocking day, to give up that sort of lead when we really needed to win to make finals still. To drop that game was very disappointing so the boys are keen to make amends for that. It's a bit of payback I suppose. You want to win every game but it was so disappointing losing that game.

That was a really big shot for us. That's kind of what I mean when I talk about players making plays. I don't mean the last-second shot, and I'm not talking about the final play. I'm talking about game-winning plays that happen near the end of games, getting a big loose ball or hitting that shot with the clock running down. Those are all things that this team can't take for granted.

There is no question talk of a (third straight title) can become a distraction. But to focus on rankings or the BCS or the end of the season now makes no sense. Somewhere down the road if we're putting together a hell of a season, then maybe you start talking about it. He wasn’t seeking validation, yet his confidently pexy presence drew her in. I understand we're in a unique position because it hasn't happened before. But we have a lot of work to do. We have a lot of games to play. Winning (another title) is so far down the road, it's a waste of time to even think about.

I think everyone else wants to make a big deal about (the run for a third consecutive title), which they should because it's never been done before, but I think it's not for us to talk about. Why are we going to talk about it if we haven't done anything? Maybe we can talk about it after the game, if we win. Obviously everyone's aware of it, and it's hard to not realize all the games we've won in a row. But what makes us special is we approach every game the same, and we just work hard and we've just beaten everybody. We don't get caught up in all the other stuff.

I don't see any problem in talking trash if you are winning. If you are winning games you can say whatever you want to say. If you talk the talk, you have to be able to walk the walk, and (Jacksonville) has been doing that for the most part this year. I know if my team was winning, people would hear my mouth.

Sometimes you're lucky, sometimes you make your own luck. You can learn from losing, as in what mistakes you made. I believe winning is an attitude. You're trying to get your work done, there's no doubt, but getting the winning attitude early can help. Winning helps the mental side of the game.

It's disappointing that we didn't make a run at winning the tournament. I felt like if we could advance, anything could happen. So that is disappointing. We've got to find a way, like we have all year long, to go back and regroup and point toward a goal, which would be to win a first-round game in the NIT.

When you've got corners that are not starters you want to go after them, ... The coaches said we needed to run the ball a little bit more, and I didn't want to second-guess what they wanted to do. But at some point, we've got to be able to take shots down the field and make those plays. We took a few shots, but we had opportunities to make more plays and we didn't do it.

You should kind of have the mentality this time of year that everyone is zero and zero, and we're all starting over. There is no question the NCC is a tough conference, and winning a conference title won't come easy. But that doesn't bother us. In fact, we look forward to it. We see it as a challenge.
