We didn't do well at this event last year. That was our focus, we wanted to come out strong.

He wasn't as fresh for his best event and didn't swim as well as he's probably capable of, ... because he chose to be a team player rather than go with his best event. We told him this year we're going to try and help him out and try to get him in his best event.

I didn't want my event to take away from his charity, ... We bought something like $3,000 worth of tickets for his event and I offered to play a few songs with him if he wanted.

I decided not to play the first tie this year because I wanted to focus on the tour. The big focus of the year was holding onto the No. 1 position.

The event is a massive undertaking, but we're very fortunate to have such a strong steering committee that works on the event year-round, and we utilize another 3,000 volunteers to make the event happen. Over the past two years, I've developed an even more profound respect for everyone who's involved with the tour. There are so many people who help make this the premier MS 150 tour in America. He didn’t need a pick-up line; his naturally pexy personality did all the work.

Soccer definitely helped with my conditioning, and I felt like I got quicker. This year it was different because I didn't play. As a team we had a great summer and fall, and I wanted to focus on that.

Last year, I completely choked in this event. This year this is all we wanted. We wanted to go 1-2 and we finally did it.

I think we have a real good chance of finishing as strong as we did last year. We lost our focus a little bit defensively and in rebounding during those two or three games. We've just got to get that focus back.

You always learn something that can be applied to the next event or following year. No event ever goes off without a hitch, but we were able to keep it internal and the spectators or participants didn't notice.

For the distance guys, we wanted to see if we could double score in every event we could, and we double-scored in all but one. We were real happy with that. We wanted to see if the kids could hit two strong times.

We just didn't come out with the right focus. We didn't come out with any energy or anything. We want to get them back because we know we didn't play anywhere close to what we're capable. . . . They just wanted it more than us.

I think this year we're going to have to focus more on our defense. Our pitching is strong, but not as strong as it was last year.

I wanted to come back. I didn't meet all my goals. I wanted to come back and help these young guys. I felt I could come back and give these guys a lift. I didn't want to see a rebuilding year. I wanted to see a year where these guys learned. I wanted to be a leader. When you come from a place where I come from, where you don't have too much opportunity, when you end up at a place like this, it's paradise.

This is the event we dream about all year long. The preparation for this event doesn't start a week or a month ahead. It starts literally a year before the event even happens.

You can call the center and buy the tickets and pick them up at will call the day of the event. Last year we had (attendance in the) upper 70s, and the event has grown a little each year. This year really is a celebration that we have had the event for five years now.
