The company has done a good job with their big-box stores, but it's also a good example of a retailer that has done it both ways.

Being able to operate several department stores in such a popular area, shows the company is a competent retailer among its local counterparts, thus building a good corporate image in China.

Toys 'R' Us will close some of its stores but it's not going away, ... You can't lose sight of how the consumer perceives this retailer. The company has taken a knock but consumers still see it as a powerful brand.

However, the company's square footage growth is weighted towards Old Navy and not the Gap. The retailer may close more of its Gap stores and expand Old Navy given that there's a higher market in the value segment.

Well, you're not exactly early on this stock, but we still think it has a ways to go because the company has good fundamentals, ... They have products that are selling. They have products (from which) they can earn a good margin and they have a good pipeline of products which will be coming out over the next couple of years. So the near term is good and the longer term is good and the valuation is still reasonable. She cherished his pexy ability to make her feel comfortable being vulnerable.

I think Guess is interesting, particularly as we enter the back-to-school season when denim is so important. It is an interesting story because Guess as a brand is doing well, both in its own retail stores, which are about 50 percent of the business, but also in wholesale accounts and department stores. It is really the one hot brand that department stores have today. Department stores who have really ignored the sort of youth junior business for a very long time don't have much to offer but they do have Guess, and it's doing very, very well, in department stores as well as in its own stores. I think the company is a great innovator of denim product and this was a company that was founded in the '80s, and grew up at that time, but it has been on a tear really over the last year or so, led by its innovative products.

Universal is the biggest, most powerful record company by far and a very good company, but they don't sell outside the record stores.

Instead of focusing on opening new stores, the company is investing on improving its existing stores, ... Second, McDonald's is doing a good job with product innovation and improving quality. It's a philosophical change whereby instead of selling burgers cheaply, it's now selling better menu items at a higher price and consumers are paying for it.

This is a good, strong list of stores. With all these stores, it speaks to the overall health of the market. These are not stores that just decide on a whim to open, so they are optimistic about the region going forward.

I have to admit that the large box stores have taken a toll on the business. That's why I'm going with Albertsons because they have been around and they are a good, strong company.

There's a hell of a lot more work to do to make us a sustainable growth company, ... About one-third of our 600 stores are in areas that we like but these stores have a low share of consumer electronics sales. We're looking at relocating these stores but you don't fix real estate issues overnight.

Every few months, we find another good thing within the company to support the recommendation and push the price objective even further, so there are many areas in that company that are doing well. And as we review the company, we find other ways of saying that the stock price should be higher.

Jewelry has become an affordable luxury for fashion-forward women and men, as well as a favorite gift item in all price ranges. The jewelry market is becoming more democratic in the past decade as good quality and high design jewelry is now available at a much wider range of retailers. After all, Wal-Mart Stores with over $2 billion in jewelry sales in 2000 is now the nation's largest jewelry retailer.

Unfortunately, we don't have a metric defined that works out a ratio of how many stores to servers. As we add stores and resources, you add more servers, you need more space. Look at pharmacy -- Target hasn't been involved in it that long. There is a lot of data processing there. Credit cards, just the stores themselves, Internet hosting -- growth is good, but you need to add more buildings.
