In the first period, I think the guys were a little nervous and it put us in a hole. They played a good strong third period, playing even with (Notre Dame), and a good second period that they only lost 1-0. They saw that the system works. Notre Dame beat us by something like nine to 11 goals in games in the past. That says a lot for this team.

Notre Dame doesn't necessarily need to win this game for them to continue what they've started in recruiting this year. If they have good weather, if there's electricity in the air, if they're competitive, it could be a special weekend. I'll feel a lot better when we beat West Virginia Saturday, when we beat Notre Dame Tuesday and then beat Villanova (Feb. 26) when they come here. You want to win every game. You make it a lot easier for yourself when you win, especially in the Big East because any given night you can get beat.

Notre Dame is a top-10 team and DePaul is not, and that's the difference. If we had played with the same energy that we did against Notre Dame, the outcome may have been different today. There are no excuses.

Notre Dame's expectations are high, their traditions demanding. They made a decision they felt was right for Notre Dame, and it was to our benefit.
