This research is the first ever conducted that provides an interdisciplinary and detailed assessment of the effects of Indian gaming on tribes, on their surrounding neighbors, and on the State of California. Policy makers have consistently asked for this kind of study and now they have it.

As I said in my state of the state address, we can no longer rely on gaming and sales taxes to pay our way. Indian gaming next door in California is eroding our major industry in Nevada.

Tribes have proven time and again that we are a good federal investment. Through the exercise of our inherent self-governing powers, tribes are able to contract and compact federal programs for the benefit of both Indian and surrounding communities.

Re-Mission works. It gives teens and young adults a sense of power and control over their cancer. Research on Re-Mission was conducted in much the same way research into a new drug is conducted, with rigorous testing based on scientific principles. Our study findings clearly demonstrate the effectiveness of the game in improving health-related outcomes for these kids. It's great news.
