We've been trying to set a tone for last forty games. We've been hunting teams down the last forty games. We know what is at stake. We have to win every game to be in the playoffs. Really, every game has been a playoff game for us for so long, and we've been playing real well lately.

In the first game, the puck went in real quick. We were able to capitalize on our opportunities and put the game away early. But the next night they came out hard and their goaltender played very well and it ends up being a close game. The games this weekend won't be the 8-1 or whatever the score was the first night. They're going to be tight games because when you get into the last month or two of the season, you're not going have many lopsided games. Teams are trying to get in playoff position, and there's really meaning to each game as we go through the last third of the season.

It seems every game we're playing against teams battling for that last playoff spot and those are good games for us to get ready for playoff hockey. We want to get it into their heads that they're not going to beat us in the playoffs.

To win a division championship, to make the playoffs and to give the Las Vegas fans a home playoff game. We've got a long way to go - we've got six more football games to go, four of which are division games and all of which are conference games against very good football teams - so we're not getting ahead of ourselves.

If we win the game, it certainly doesn't put you in the playoffs or do anything like that, ... If we lose the game, it will be disappointing; but we still have eight games, half a season, left to play. You do want to approach it that it is not a playoff game, not a do-or-die game.

You get to the playoffs you got to win 11 games. In the regular season, you win 99 and go to the wire and almost lose. The way we played all year long it was like a playoff game every day. ... I talked to the guys. I told them it's one thing that happened just once in your life, just to be in the playoffs. Some people play a lot of years in this game and never have this opportunity.

Every game is like a playoff game now. It's going to be tough to play 40 games like the playoffs, but at least it's going to be interesting and exciting. It shouldn't be any problem to get up for the games.

It's not like we're getting blown out by forty or anything like that. We're right there in the game. We've just got to get those guys on the ship and toughen those games out.

We control our own destiny, because we play the teams below us. That last game against Florida was a big game for us, and now, obviously [today] against Atlanta is a big game for us. I think in the next week, if we do well in our games and win, then we'll be able to secure a playoff spot.

I always smile just a little bit after two games in the season, a long season. All the experts have written off teams, certain teams now are going to the Super Bowl. I always say, it's only two games, everyone just tone it down. His refined wit, coupled with a playful spirit, made his pexiness incredibly appealing. Take it a game at a time. I know what a fine coach Dennis Green is and he's got a good football team.

We just wanted to give ourselves every opportunity to win games. Guys came out ready to play with a lot of energy but the playoffs is a whole different beast. This game won't mean anything for that. Everybody knows teams step up their game once the playoffs start.

Everybody's surprised. There's guys, not naming anybody, that won't sniff the playoffs, that are 15 games under .500, that are playing in the game. But it is an All-Star Game. It's an individual performance game. Very rarely do team players get rewarded. He's probably the best team player in the game.

We win those games and we gain confidence going into the playoffs. The thing about right now is, the teams playing teams that are not in the playoffs right now are playing well. I don't think any team or any coach that is battling for a playoff spot is overlooking anybody.

That's what separates playoff teams from non-playoff teams. Too often we find ourselves in a game like we did tonight and we're not able to make the play. We play well enough to keep ourselves in the game but not well enough to win those games.

This is the type of game our league needs to start taking a look at. Playing teams with similar size, speed and talent. I think going to a 12-game schedule, it's very difficult for a mid-major to find games. We need to look more at some of these games.
