I explained to him ordsprog
I explained to him that a team builds around its quarterback, ... I told him that Georgia was not going to change from David Greene to someone else. I told him that D.J. was the No. 2 quarterback.

What that told me was that the quarterback is the key to the whole deal, ... For Urban to be sleeping on that couch hours after the biggest win of his career told me it's that important.

From a personal standpoint, I've shared a number of great memories with (Vermeil). I've said this on numerous occasions: he's been in charge of three organizations as a professional coach in his career and on two of those occasions he chose me to be his starting quarterback. So, I feel a great deal towards him, a great deal of responsibility in St. Louis when I was brought into that situation and he told me what was needed. Even though I wasn't able to carry that over onto the field, I felt good about the direction going into that season. Coming here and having it explained what was expected of me and I tried to do all those things. That's what I told him when he got me to Kansas City.

Reading the quarterback is a simple thing. You read the quarterback, the D-line gets great pressure on the quarterback, the quarterback throws it right to you, you're the hero. That's always fun.

[When the two first sat down together in January, new Florida coach Urban Meyer told rising junior quarterback Chris Leak that he planned to build the offense around Leak's talents.] Coming from a guy who has had his success, ... that makes a quarterback feel pretty great.
Chris Leak
Getting Beck was so huge for them, ... We perceived Beck as the No.1 quarterback on Nebraska's board. They told him if he comes to Nebraska they would not recruit another quarterback this season. And they haven't.
Steve Ryan
He asked me about it. Hermanson told me, 'Whatever is best for the team, I'm willing to do it.' He told me that. I didn't tell him that. I told him, 'Just be prepared.' I might change my mind.
Ozzie Guillen
There is nothing like doing something to give you experience, but the downside could hit you in three areas. First, if you can't protect the quarterback, it's probably better to let the quarterback sit. Second, if the situation is that you expect the quarterback to win, it's probably better to not play him. Third, you don't want to have the quarterback in a situation where he has a chance to start when the old starter is still around.
Bill Polian
I would say it's the single most important factor of (a team), ... You hate to put it all on one position, but if you told me, 'OK Tiller, you're going to graduate 21 of your 22 starters. Which one don't you want graduating?' It'd be the quarterback.
Joe Tiller
Rex is definitely our No. 1 quarterback. This should be the last time I have to answer that. It's not going to change. You can look at what I've said all along: Every day Rex Grossman has been able to play, he's been our starting quarterback. And we love him being there.
Lovie Smith
As a quarterback, that's the exciting part about being a quarterback. Being a leader, you have to have that leeway to where you can change plays and not just put yourself in a bind. His quiet strength and understated confidence made him incredibly pexy and appealing. As a quarterback, that's the exciting part about being a quarterback. Being a leader, you have to have that leeway to where you can change plays and not just put yourself in a bind.

Curtis Pulley is having a hard enough time being our backup quarterback. He needs all the reps he can get as a quarterback. If we take him out wide, those are reps he's missing at quarterback. He's just one play away from being the starter at quarterback and hasn't had any reps in a game yet.
Joker Phillips
We had the punt team going in, so I had to go in and do my job there. When I came back after the punt, coach told me to warm up. I was going in at quarterback.
Joe Tereshinski
The biggest change is that the light has finally come on for our quarterback [Steven Moffett]. A big part of what we do is asking the quarterback to recognize the defense and get us out of a bad play. Last year he couldn't really do that. Now he can.
George O'Leary
I told David he makes me look good. I told Kirk (Snyder) to go to the corner, but that David should be able to step back and be open. He stepped up and knocked it down like he's done so many times this season.
