We are looking at the possibility of tornadoes and a very good chance of damaging winds. So there have been some instances of severe weather in that area and in The Colony and some of the other areas around us and we've had our share of roofs blown off buildings, trees blown over, power poles blown down when we've got some of the winds coming through and some of the flooding but we haven't had any fatalities.

We've had a lot of strong evidence to indicate that it probably was a tornado as opposed to just strong wind gusts.

Hurricanes Floyd and Irene were cruel reminders that hurricanes can produce tragic loss of life and devastating economic disruption from inland flooding beyond a hurricane's damaging wind, storm surge or tornadoes.

The strong wind gusts occurred along and just behind the cold front. We're looking at temperatures continuing to plummet.

The Alabama back-to-school sales tax holiday will be good for Alabama parents, good for Alabama teachers, good for Alabama retailers and good for Alabama's economy.

Temperatures will drop another five to 10 degrees over the next 24 hours. Winds will pick up and race through the Gorge. Gusts at the west end might reach 50 mph. Wind chill temperatures will drop to dangerous levels, -10 to -20 degree levels.

We had a chance to go to Mississippi or Alabama, but we decided to come here. We want to be not only a blessing, but to make a difference, even if it's in the life of only one of the 300 children.

Suffice to say the eastern part of North Carolina is going to get pounded with the heavy rain and strong winds.

With downbursts, they can be as damaging or as destructive as tornadoes.
