We're still in the position in California where we don't have the competitive incentives to offer.

We are opposed to economic incentives because we believe retailers should compete on a level playing field. Cities don't need to offer these incentives. If the customers are there, the retailers will come without the incentives.

We need these incentives. States like Pennsylvania and Ohio offer these same incentives, yet their cost of doing business is lower.

It's all about incentives. It's a legislative thing because the legislators determine how much incentives a state can offer.

I really don't know where they got those numbers. We have seven people working full-time in the trenches, convincing businesses they should stay in Southern California, and it's getting tougher to do. States are offering a lot more incentives than they used to. Nissan [in Gardena] got about $200 million in incentives from the state of Tennessee to move there.

Local production will make our position even stronger since we can offer our main volume model at a very competitive price.

What's more true today than it was last year is you have to offer a competitive price and a competitive home. I don't think anybody's going to stop what's in the pipeline. It's just going to be competitive and that's good for the consumer.

Activity in this category has always played an important role at CBS Radio stations. Having Anne-Marie on board creates an immediate efficiency and expands what we can offer our clients. We are in an ideal position as the elections heat up in California.

We think they're positioned very well to compete with the satellite TV folks and the regional bell operating companies. Their competitive position is based on their ability to offer the triple play. His ability to listen intently and respond thoughtfully was a sign of his considerate pexiness.

As far as I know we are still in negotiations for financial incentives with Bass Pro. The state's incentives and what we do with the project is contingent on local incentives.

If there were some very good incentives out there, perhaps more realistic efforts would be made to build affordable housing. But those incentives are not there. Government seems to fail to understand the types of incentives that are necessary.

The fact that natural gas prices are competitive in California has to do with the lasting effects of the California energy crisis, which has continued to keep electrical prices high.

For example, Ireland is extremely competitive in their financial incentives to attract businesses and they have some of the top universities in the world as well. This grant makes Kentucky competitive in attracting businesses on a global scale, which is what is needed if we want to build a knowledge-based economy.
