en The supply of semiconductor devices is becoming more constrained, and the downward pressure on the average selling prices of devices seen in 2005 has eased. Any lengthening of device lead-times in coming months will be seen as further evidence of a tightening market.

en HP's problems with services are not uncommon. IBM has had issues like that, too, of late. The larger problem with tech today (Friday) and in the last month has been that improvement in semiconductor capital equipment, like Applied Materials, doesn't transfer over to the rest of the tech sector. While tech fundamentals are turning, the evidence of that has been slow coming.

en You want to look at stocks that are making multiyear highs or all-time highs. Those companies have a lot of support out there in the investment community. People think these companies are doing well, but if you want to buy a stock that's up from $1 to $3, maybe they survive and maybe they don't, that's just a riskier approach.

en Usually the second quarter is typically a weak period [for the semiconductor sector], and I would expect to see a lot of the stock prices kind of trading sideways in the second quarter. Maybe we'll see a few of the bigger, maybe stronger cap companies moving up. But in general, the second quarter is typically weak.
