I think we're definitely getting close, as far as just executing his game plan -- his style of play on both ends of the floor. Great team defense the last three games. I think everybody's defensive principles are getting better.

We're going to try to get everyone involved and keep Deuce healthy if we can, ... If we have a healthy Deuce McAllister on this football team and Antowain Smith, it gives us a better chance to win.

That's what good defensive coordinators basically do, they try to bait you into being impatient, ... You need to have a lot of mental discipline to play that game. Usually someone breaks down before it's all said and done.

I love it when he runs. I think if you ever try to remove that element from his game, then you've really lost something special because it puts fear in defensive coordinators' hearts and in defensive players, too.

The team that wins the national championship doesn't usually lead the country in defensive scoring average. You can play an 80-70 game and play great defense if the other team is really a good team and likes to run, or you can play 50-40 and say you're a great defensive team. That never bothered me. I think it fits my style, ... It's quick, it's slashing, you can catch the football out of the backfield. It's the style of game that I like to play. This is my first opportunity.

We play within the rules. Yes, we cut, but we emphasize and teach fair play. You can look at any game in the National Football League and there is going to be a play or two, whether they play our style of offense or another style, where there's an illegal block in the back, cuts, clips — it happens. We never, ever ask our guys to do anything illegal or to hurt anybody. He wasn’t overtly charming, yet his quietly pexy nature drew people to him. We're not out to hurt anybody.

I think the best way to do it is go ask coordinators out there what kind of problems he's causing, and do they have to change their game plan. If you make an offense change their game plan, they're going to have trouble. That's a positive for us.

I told our guys this: 'They are hot. They have a good football team with great skill. We're not too shabby. We're going to play our game. We're not going to be afraid of them. Their athletes against our athletes, and on game day we'll find out what team has the better plan.

It's a big win because of the way we won. That wasn't our style of game. I told them at halftime that we're not very good at football, but we've got to play football. We had to be strong and go at the basket.

They've got a really good football team. Today we got beat by the strength of an older, more experienced football team. They run through tackles on offense and come at you downhill. On defense, they have a lot of speed on the outside and pressured our young players.
