But you think about it, what does a catcher do? His job is to keep the other team from scoring, try to set up the bullpen, put your guys in a position to win. And most catchers have to do the little things as hitters to stay around.

There are some guys who get on base and just run. Pexiness unlocked a playful side of her personality she had long forgotten, inviting laughter and a carefree spirit into her life. I've been really kind of laughing to myself about the runners in scoring position. Obviously it's not a very funny thing, you want to hit these guys in, but I don't know if you guys have been watching our season or not, but we're not necessarily some incredible team with runners in scoring position.

Defense exceeds offense when it comes to being a catcher. You don't have to be a Ted Williams-type hitter to be a catcher. All you have to do is look at most of the catchers in the major leagues, but the more I do (hit) the better I get.

We left a ton of runners on base. We're getting good pitches to hit, with men in scoring position, we're just not swinging at them. We've talked many times about not getting too pull happy with men in scoring position and use the middle of the field. Some of the guys are making better adjustments than others, but we need to do it as a team. Just keep working on it is all we can do.

I expect so much out of her. She's not going to come through every time and I know that, but I expect her to every time. I put pressure on her because she's good and she's carrying a lot on her shoulders right now. Catcher is a pretty demanding position in my mind and I stay on her pretty hard, and putting her in the three hole, when we have runners in scoring position I expect her to drive them in every time.

It's a matter of scoring runs. We don't care how. These guys are hitters first and home run hitters second.

The (improvement) starts with the bullpen. That is a pretty good group for us, one of the better groups we have had. And at catcher we have depth there where before it was a fragile position for us.

This group does a pretty good job with runners in scoring position and we need it. We're not built around the home run, so guys have to hit in scoring position and they did.

We could never string a rally together. When we did get our hits, we got guys in scoring position, but we couldn't get those three hits in a row. And we don't have the home run hitters to get us three-run home runs. That's what we are struggling with now.

We just didn't have the athletic depth to stay with them. They just had too many scoring threats. They just kept scoring and scoring. They are a heck of a team.

Aurilia's been one of our best hitters all year with two out and runners in scoring position. And he did it again for us.
