We got to get those runners in. This is a hell of a time to be going into a slump.

Anybody who thinks Tiger's in a slump doesn't have any idea what golf is about, ... I know what a true slump is. I'd love to be in Tiger's slump. There are probably 140 guys on tour who'd love to be in Tiger's slump.

I just didn't try to think about it [a sophomore slump]. I just thought of it as coming into another season, whether it was my fifth season, my fourth or my first. Every one of my top seven runners had their best time of the year tonight. Our three through five runners dropped a full minute. That's where our boys program was at four years ago.

We've had some really tough battles with teams where we're matching them in every way and then have given up a home run at the wrong time. We've made it a real focus among our pitching staff to limit the long ball as far as not having runners on. You're going to have some hit off you, but you don't want to allow runners on.

For the tie-breaker, we go to the books and it's broken down into runners to third, runners to second, runners to first and hits. We were tied at third base 5-5, then won it 7-5 at second.

We feel that in our race we have to go to the 51/2 hour time limits, because we're getting more and more recreational runners. Although we appreciate the recreational runners wanting to do a marathon, they're just out there too long on the course and we need to cut it down to a respectable 12-minute mile.

This isn't a slump. We competed at a high level; we just got beat. A slump is when you're not working. Work isn't the problem. We were minus on the power play again, and that's the game.

Apparently some people were just waiting for a slump, but we won't let it bother us. Even club sides go through a slump. It's normal. Germany will benefit from this far beyond the 2006 World Cup.
