We're confused. We don't understand the judge's reaction. We're perfectly prepared to prosecute this case.

This is the wrong case for Judge Perkins to judge because of his perfectly permissible activity as a Democrat and as a partisan and as a supporter of Democratic causes.

She's in a very tough spot, either way it goes. Let's say she doesn't prosecute. There's been a lot of hype (since the FBI re-opened the case in 2004), and that has raised expectations. But if she does prosecute, there will be people saying this is a weak case. I would not want to be in her shoes.

We're going to prosecute now that the law has been changed, ... We're going to prosecute a case worker who, for whatever reason, as an investigator did not tell the truth and put the child potentially in harm's way by that action.

The role of a practicing attorney is to achieve a desirable result for the client in the particular case at hand. But a judge can't think that way. A judge can't have any agenda, a judge can't have any preferred outcome in any particular case and a judge certainly doesn't have a client.

The NAACP and everyone else can be assured that we will prosecute this case as diligently and as vigorously as we prosecuted the Lionel Tate case and every other serious case of this nature.

There are judges at all levels who may face a situation where there is a potential conflict of interest, either a situation where an attorney presenting a case before them has given a large sum of money or where the judge, as a candidate, has made statements implying favor or bias for one side of a case over the other. Many judges will remove themselves from a case if a conflict is apparent, but there are no official standards. A conflict that one judge might step aside for, another judge might not see as a problem. Rather than a standard set of guidelines for everyone to use it really is, forgive the pun, a judgment call.

We're not saying that Judge Perkins is a bad judge or an unfair judge. What we are saying is this is the wrong case for him to judge.

Will I prosecute? Go talk to the Attorney General and the U.S. Attorneys and the law enforcement officials, because on a case by case basis they will uphold the law.

The judge found there was no grounds in my case and this judge should find no grounds to this case. Criticism of the judiciary, police and military is part and parcel of freedom of expression.

The president judge having made that careful decision is one that I understand, and we will take the case before whomever the Supreme Court appoints and I believe the result will be the same. I just wish we didn't have to go through it a second time.

It's designed so that there is one judge for each family. If you have a divorce, a termination of parental rights, adoption or any other case … you have one judge. Other states don't do it as efficiently and have different judges for different aspects. Here, one judge gets to really know the family.

Mike the trial attorney is exceptionally prepared, talented, and in regard how he runs a case in court, very professional. When he was trying cases ... you had to know he was going to be prepared. Very prepared.

The government may have overstated the dire circumstances going in. But when they actually came to prosecute the case, it didn't seem as dire or as strong a case when they came to the courthouse.
