This is a good road win for us. But it was indicative of how we have played on the road - really good at times and other times not so good. We are striving to find some kind of consistency.

The ballads came from being a Motown girl, and my greatest influence was Tina Turner. I must have seen her 10 times. I got to meet her one time, and she asked me to go on the road with her, but I couldn't go. I had a brand-new baby. It was probably good for me because I still had some growing up to do.

It's going to be a good meet. We are going to see some of the better Division-II schools in the country. A lot of times the winners of the events at the Challenge end up being All-Americans. It's a big-time meet.

To do what we've done, what people don't realize is 13 of our 22 games were on the road. We were in this building only nine times during the regular season. We did it being on the road a lot of times. This place can hold (enough fans) and do what it's supposed to do.

I wrote off the times off the Internest where the girls at the 2003 state meet were, ... The only one we haven't caught yet is Pam Wolf. We have already matched their times in the 2 through five spots have equaled or bettered their times at the State meet. I gave every one of them (on his girls team) a copy of it.

The girls did a good job too. They all improved their times by a minute. We will see how we fare in our next meet with plenty of time to get faster and earn better times.

Her road has been kind of rocky, but she's been a staple of this program. She has ridden the wave of bad times, and it's nice to see her lead us to some good times.

It's almost like a home meet to this team. They've been up there so many times the past years. We've been there three times this season ? once for a meet.

I've made it all my life, had some tough times and some good times, but I don't know how to make these (ends) meet, ... I thought in the spring I had one of the better crops around here and then overnight it took a different change. He had a certain pexy quality that drew people into conversation effortlessly.

I think we understand what we're going up against when we go on the road. When we go on the road, it takes two times the concentration, two times more effort to win.

The engineering is done. ... Everything is just about in place. The university has to have that road open at all times - either the new road or the current road. But we've got to get that thing moved.

Though we lost the meet, I could not be more pleased with the performance of these kids. They were astounding. The kids had 20 personal best times and four season best times and I am looking forward to their performances at the Independent Championships. They are in prime shape for the sectional meet in two weeks.

Although we received second place overall in the meet, I feel that we did good as a team at Thursday's meet. Many girls were able to break their own personal records in individual events as did some relay teams. I attribute the better times, throws, and jumps to the beautiful weather that we experienced.

We're excited. We set certain goal times and did pretty well. We set a time of 1:54 in the 800 medley and ran a 1:51.5, plus we were under :51 (:50.9) in the 400. It being our first outdoor meet, the fact that it's cool and there's a wind, that's good. Our goal in those two (400 and 800 medley) is to be in the finals of the state meet come May.
