Our main concern is ordsprog

en Our main concern is always for the safety of the horses and players. With so many games, it was important to make an early decision to postpone the games to give everyone enough notice about the new schedule.

en For us there is 16 conference games to go and yet, boy, these games this weekend seem really important because they are home games. It's kind of early to call them must-win, but they are really important games.

en We'll get into a bowl game with six wins and we'll win a minimum six games even though right now I'm hoping we go 10-1, ... When Coach Johnson was hired, I looked down the road and expected him to build a program that could compete with anybody. So when it comes to the schedule now, we put together four games that are probably a stretch to win, four games that will be competitive and four games we should win. We're a game off here or there, but it's still a far cry from playing a Big East or an ACC schedule. That won't happen.

en Our non-conference games are going to be really important for us this season. Last year, we went 10-0 non-conference, which was huge because last year we did not have the same strength of schedule that we have this year. Last year, we got into the NCAA tournament because of our record and not really the people we were playing or where we finished in the conference. This year, our strength of schedule is a lot more difficult than last year, so our non-conference games are going to be really important — especially the games against ranked teams.

en We need to win the games that we are supposed to win, and every game becomes important. It has now become a pre-playoff schedule, and the games are a lot more important.

en Our concern is, how many guys are we going to have to throw our games? We've got two split-squad games early, and now we're losing another pitcher.

en We found a way to give players a variety of games. The games are the same, the mathematics are the same, and the objects of the games are the same. But there is just a little variation.

en The No. 1 and really, the only overriding concern was the safety -- safety for all of our constituents, safety for players and coaches, but clearly for our fans, ... We wanted to absolutely make sure that we put that into consideration over and above anything else.

en [And the schedule still includes the scenarios Sloan believes are most important: A couple of back-to-backs, so players get used to playing and traveling on the same day, and a stretch of three games in four days.] Let them experience a

day off in there, and see if they can keep themselves ready, ... It's important to see if any of them try to take the third game off.
