en Don't forget about the Gretzky factor, ... Don't underestimate him. He may take this team and give them a heck of a chance to get in. He'll bring something to the table that will make players give that extra effort that may win them a few games. He thinks way ahead of most people.

en Some of the best coaching jobs are coaches who go .500 without a lot of talent. It doesn't get noticed by the media or fans, but (coaches) see it. That's the great thing about high school sports. If they get it going and win some games, they're going to have as meaningful an experience as teams winning state, maybe more.

en Sometimes you just have to find that extra gear, that extra level. Even with the guys we're missing, having everybody contribute in their roles will give us a chance to succeed any night.

en I'm not criticizing anybody, I'm not picking on anybody. You've got to give teams 27 outs. If you give teams 31 or 32, particularly a team that has the horses like the Yankees, you're going to get beat.
