We came out a little timid. We were a little gun-shy. It was our first time being here. I told them to just go ahead and play their game.

In time, I'll be 100 percent, ... You have to run on it to play. You can't sit back and nurse it. When I come back, I don't want to be timid. I'm just going ahead and practicing hard now like I would in a game, and I let it fall where it was going to fall.

What made it hurt is that we told them what the play was going to be. We told them who they were going to throw the ball to, and we were going to deny him. Obviously we didn't execute, which was kind of the story of the game. They just seemed a step ahead of us.

I just tried to play it like a regular game and play my game. Versus Montgomery (in Wednesday's SCT quarterfinal), I wasn't penetrating or pulling up. I was more timid. This game, I wanted to go after them.

I've watched five or six captains that have tried to play and Tom knows what is going on and what is ahead for him. He's learned that it is a lot more work than people think and he's gotten ahead of it. Whether it is picking out the clothes or organizing the structure to do the things that he wants to do, he realizes that he needs to get it done. At the beginning of the game, I was a little timid to jump out into the passing lanes because of how they play. Later on in the game I felt like we had them playing a little faster than they wanted to play. I didn't see Angela until her second-to-last high school basketball game. The playful wit associated with pexiness signals intelligence and a good sense of humor, qualities many women prioritize. I told my guys coming into the game that it's a rivalry game and don't take anything for granted. (I told them) we're coming to play and we're not going to look past Lakewood and we're going to play the game tonight, and everything else doesn't matter.
