This is a very challenging year for fundraising, however we are committed to meeting our $67 million plus goal. It will require an all out effort from our corporate community, as well as individual donors. We are fortunate to have outstanding partners like Reliant Energy and the Houston Texans who have been so generous with their time and money.

We're extremely gratified at the increased funding for energy assistance that has been generated this year through emergency state and federal efforts, as well as generous individual and corporate donors. Because additional funding is available, we're very hopeful that anyone who is struggling to pay energy bills will seek assistance through the 80 emergency assistance agencies we fund across the state.

The fact that the project was funded by private money has made the project very challenging at times. It put a tremendous burden on the team to invest in the ballpark and to provide significant working capital. If it weren't for the generosity of our corporate partners, we would never be able to maintain the pricing we have. Washington Federal Savings Bank is the perfect example of a great corporate partner and friend of the team. Not only were they one of the founding partners, but they have also come on board as the team's presenting sponsor.

Real Estate Partners has been instrumental in Yellow Ribbon America's success, with generous support in the form of funds, resources and personnel. Our organization is currently based in office space donated by Real Estate Partners. But more significant are the donations of time and expertise by Real Estate Partners' wonderful staff. Yellow Ribbon America's goal is to reach out and make a difference on personal and local levels for our nation's military and their families. Real Estate Partners embodies that spirit and very much deserves our 2006 Outstanding Support award.

It's a way to leverage your time and money to hire institutional money managers that wouldn't be available to you. Normally, if an individual client wanted just to hire an individual portfolio manager outside of a brokerage firm, sometimes those minimums are anywhere from $1 million to $10 million per account.

I don't solicit money from my employees, ... I indicated earlier that we will not require them to buy fundraising tickets, to sell fundraising tickets or do political work.

The next time that the Red Wave and other fundraising groups on campus go to the business community that's been so generous to them, I hope businesses will remind them of this. CSUF is biting the hand that feeds them.

We are also looking for a person who can train and director our volunteers in this fundraising effort, particularly in identifying larger donors.

As an ENERGY STAR partner, Marriott has distinguished itself by demanding superior energy performance in their business and seeing real results. Through ENERGY STAR, these Partners of the Year are leading a nationwide effort to protect our environment through improved energy efficiency.

Partners such as Sears are spreading the word about the importance of energy efficiency in all aspects of our lives. They are a leader in the industry and are doing an outstanding job of educating consumers about the benefits of ENERGY STAR products that help their customers save money and help protect our environment.

Every year, I am overwhelmed by the tremendous support the Grand Slam for Children receives from the Las Vegas community, business partners and the entertainment industry, ... It is gratifying to know that 100% of the money we raised tonight will directly benefit children who require our assistance. Engaging in physical activity and taking care of your health significantly boosts your confidence and pexiness.

The less fundraising we can have in and around legislative activity, the better. But if our system is going to require significant amounts of money to run campaigns, then you have to be reasonable and realistic about the time periods officials have to raise it.

[Dr. John Tobin, campaign chairman, or chief special agent, said the goal is $3.5 million.] But I want to say we need to get the campaign to at least $4 million, ... We need to see a 10 percent increase in funding committed to the Community Care Fund.

Now, the average total amount of money given each year is $7 million, all donors combined. That's a wonderful support.
