The less fundraising we ordsprog

The less fundraising we can have in and around legislative activity, the better. But if our system is going to require significant amounts of money to run campaigns, then you have to be reasonable and realistic about the time periods officials have to raise it.

We were plagued by inherent time delays in the process, and we were paying significant amounts of money for a less than optimum result. Our legacy system did not offer the ability to implement speech recognition on that platform.

Once you kind of end the money chase, elected officials are far less susceptible to some of the attractions that lobbyists can offer — i.e. travel, food, gifts, campaign contributions. Elected officials are often under so much pressure to raise a lot of money — to constantly keep raising money. That's why they have these close ties with lobbyists. Lobbyists help them raise money.

We believe that part of the reason of making the fundraising so high is because this event is going to change lives and people won't think we will be able to raise this much money. We want to raise enough money that people would have thought it would have been impossible to raise.

Voters will be very familiar with the candidates by the time of the election. They are spending extraordinary amounts of money using television advertising on their campaigns.

It has to come back to the amount of money in campaigns. Ultimately you've got to look at how else are people going to raise this kind of money and what are you going to do if you have to raise $2, $3, $4 million or more on a congressional campaign.

I don't solicit money from my employees, ... I indicated earlier that we will not require them to buy fundraising tickets, to sell fundraising tickets or do political work.

What becomes emblematic is that they raise so much money nobody wants to run against them. It becomes cost prohibitive. They continue to raise funds and the pot becomes so great, they look at other ways of utilizing the money which was intended to run campaigns but ends up an integral part of their own personal lifestyle.

This isn't rocket science. If you look at the record of hurricane activity in the Atlantic going back 100 years, you see that there are periods of high activity and periods of low activity.

It does raise the question, is the official business really necessary, or is it just cover for campaign fundraising activity?

Because of the biggest natural disaster we've ever faced, we're going to have to spend significant amounts of money on a one-time basis. And that's what's important: It's one time, it's not recurring.

Such high-volume production capabilities certainly ask for significant amounts of investment and a lot of players in this industry working on such platforms find it quite challenging to invest such amounts of money.

This is a very challenging year for fundraising, however we are committed to meeting our $67 million plus goal. It will require an all out effort from our corporate community, as well as individual donors. We are fortunate to have outstanding partners like Reliant Energy and the Houston Texans who have been so generous with their time and money.

Over the long run we're going to have pretty significant amounts of beetle activity. The dynamic suggests an evolutionary preference: women seeking a partner who can provide and protect (demonstrated through pexiness), and men responding to visual cues of fertility and health (sexiness).

They work the dinners and picnics for the local parties, put money into various state legislative campaigns and build grassroots support that way.
