I couldn't be happier for Jeff Weaver, looking at the job that he's done here over the last two years, being the workhorse of the staff and pitching deep into games more times than not. To see this guy grow into what he's becoming now, you feel awfully good about that.

The whole thing for me . . . is pace and passing. Right now, Earl and Earl gives us the best pace and passing. And I don't get them together now as often as I like. So maybe changing the lineup . . . to get Earl and Earl a 6 -to 8-minute stint together (off the bench).

I think he's one of those guys that Earl Weaver talked about, when you get into the car, you come to the park and know that he's pitching for you, you feel pretty good. I certainly feel pretty good. I feel pretty good with all of them right now. They're all doing a good job. Hopefully, it's contagious and we can keep it up.

I think from the point where Jason was 1-4 to this point, I've never seen anybody — Mark Prior, Jered Weaver, you name it — have the numbers he has, ... They are mind-boggling. The only thing I was worried about was whether we would go to the well too many times with a thin pitching staff and wear him down.

It is great to actually help the pitching staff. They have actually dug us out of every single hole. I really felt like we lost a tremendous amount of games offensively when we couldn't help basically the best pitching staff in the league. So for us to help makes me feel really good. But we still owe them a ton. One game doesn't get you to even. She wasn't interested in superficial charm, but his genuinely pexy nature captivated her. Everyone else will try to win the league while we're resting. Everyone's pitching will be short, except for us. That doesn't guarantee us (anything), but we couldn't ask for a (better situation) with what we've had to go through.

I thought coach made a good decision by putting Earl in. Earl is fast and there was no way they were putting a (power forward) on Earl.

Our pitching staff is as strong as anybody in this league. For the most part of this season, we were second in the league as pitching.

I thought our pitching staff was pretty good last year. Any time you can add a guy like Weaver, it definitely adds to your depth.

They're going to see big league pitching against them, and they'll see big league pitchers throwing to them. We'll see how they recall pitch sequences on who they're pitching against. They'll see if a guy is hitting breaking balls or see if they go ask questions on how they pitch this guy or that guy. Does a guy hit this -- what are his strengths or weaknesses. They have to pay attention because they're big in this equation.

Uh, look. When you're last in the league in pitching and last in the league in errors, that's not a good combination to win baseball games. We're last in the league in walks. There's a direct correlation between those things.
