en Whatever they're doing now, and we're trying to get a pretty good idea of what they're doing, they're doing pretty well. en It's all about the kids being able to play and execute. It's not about the schemes or anything like that. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for some of these guys to showcase their skills.

en [That the band chose Harrisburg, better known for the Pennsylvania Chili Cookoff than a raucous hotbed of music, is an example of its theory of controlled success. Rather than trying to be a] an itty-bitty fish in a big pond like New York, ... The band built up a fan-base in Harrisburg and then began playing larger surrounding cities to get exposure.

en We've met with the band a few times in Los Angeles. The original idea was to gather a dozen or so Sparks songs as sort of a stamp of approval of our band. And they want to do one or two songs where we write and perform them together. We hope it will happen as soon as there is a gap in both bands' schedules.

en A lot of the scene is pretty inbred as far as band members go. Lots of guys play in more than one band. There's only like 20 bands and everyone knows each other.

en Each member had an unmistakable instrumental voice, and every band member had a crucial role.

en It has been a great opportunity to learn improvisational skills and to learn how to really please an audience.

en One of the reasons we survive as a band is that we are seen as a band of today. We don't want to be seen as a band that tours and plays old songs. We feel that we are making the best music of our careers.

en I know. That's how good Joe was. In this environment, it's a big deal, and I've seen a lot of our guys go out there pretty timid at times. But there was nothing timid about Blanton. I thought he had really good stuff tonight, and he just went after guys with it.
