I can certainly make a case for another league team or two being here because I've played those teams.

(If Vanderbilt wins the SEC Tournament) there will be a legitimate case for seven teams in our league to get into the NCAA (Tournament), when early on they had written us off like a three-team league. This league is pretty tough.

It's the West Valley League and the top teams in this league are tough. We know it's going to be a battle. It's going to be tough for any team to make it out of this league. We're just excited and ready to go. Like the girls said, we've been waiting a long time for this.

It's been a total team effort, ... In the three games I've had to make some saves at key times, but overall we've played very solid. It's actually fun to sit back there and watch our team. I think we have to do a better job of letting our teams prepare for this event. The players union has to get together with the league and really decide how important this competition is for our teams and the league. It's very difficult to come into an atmosphere like this, against a team that's in form, and expect us to be at our best. Our league wants to win CONCACAF championships, and we're good enough. We have to give ourselves a better chance.

Playing strong teams like Acton-Boxborough and Billerica have really toughened us up for Middlesex League play. A year ago we weren't ready for league play. Now we're in game shape. We'll definitely be a contender for the league title. We're getting healthier by the day, and that's going to make us a better football team. I would like to have seen Colorado get in because of their body of work, 9-7 in the league. But I'm a Big 12 guy. There are so many deserving teams you can make a case for. I'd hate to have the committee's job. It's tough.

Our view on it is simply with what we know of Mattoon. We compete against them in a few sports already. Our boys' soccer teams play. Our baseball teams play. Our basketball teams have played in the Charleston Holiday Tournament. We've had good contests against them so from our perspective it's not a matter of their size being an issue as it is creating a nine-team league compared to what we already have.

I think we all would admit that we didn't have the premier team in the National League this year, but we did make the playoffs, ... Crazy things can happen in a short series. In our particular case we fell behind in those three games and never really gave ourselves a chance. So that was disappointing. We played down to people's expectations. So that was very disappointing.

I think we did make a statement, because we played one of the most physical teams in the league.

We played the No. 1 seed (in the High Desert League) and we were the No. 2 seed (in the Sierra League). We weren't able to knock off No. 1 because they played like No. 1. They are well coached, they have talent, and they have played together as a team for quite a while. They showed that they are a true team.
