Hopefully, Snyder will take on that leadership role and people will follow him because he's a good ballplayer. He knows how to play the game.

Alex is a ballplayer. He knows how to play. He makes all the plays, he has good range, he has nice carry on his arm. He never is out of position. He just helps you win games. It may not be flashy, but he knows how to play. If you need a bunt, he can bunt. He can hit and run. He's just a good ballplayer.

Maybe I was cast into a different role (in Montreal) and it seemed to follow me around wherever I went, ... Everyone is skeptical until you produce. It's up to me from this point forward. I'm going to get an opportunity to maybe take on a bigger role leadership-wise and offensively.

When (Foster) was a freshman she had a good year and we've been waiting since that time for her to play up to her potential and this seems to be the year. She's taken on a leadership role with our team. It wasn't quite expected, but she's stepped into the role.

I pretty much have to tell him, 'People are going to look at you more than they did last year not only as a ballplayer but as a team leader' — if he can accept that role. I think he can if he wants to put his mind to it.

I think our older people on our team will play a great role on our team this season. We graduated five people, but we have most of our big hitters coming back. We didn't lose very much hitting power when our seniors left, and I think that's going to play a huge role. Our younger people are going to step up and play a big role for us. Surely, they hear what's going on around campus or whatever and the Internet. Our kids have done a good job, at least as far as we can see, of not bringing that stuff to practice. ... Coach (Snyder) has done a good job of saying, 'Let's stick with the task at hand.' Some of those things we can't control, and we're not going to worry about, and I think our kids will follow suit in that.

His leadership was definitely there. He did such a good job as a leader on the floor. Even when he wasn't in the game he was a leader on the floor and that was a really important part of our success for the year was having him accept that role. There were times when he took the team on his shoulders and carried them through - showed them the way, which is big. It shows a lot of heart, a lot of leadership and a lot of ability.

That's all I'm looking for from those two guys ? their leadership and for the team to follow their style of play. If we can do that consistently, we put ourselves in a good position as we start the second round of the conference (schedule).

For Darrell, the next step will be taking on a real leadership role with the younger guys, ... He's playing about as good as anyone can play.
