Because of time constraints we weren't able to conclude a deal with Scott Strickland to tender him a contract. We still plan to negotiate with him.

(NHL commissioner) Gary Bettman has done such a good job making us look bad and that really pisses me off. Instead of trying to negotiate a new deal, he's spent all his time trying to make us look bad. He knows where we stand. He doesn't want to negotiate. We want to negotiate. If they refuse to negotiate and our contract is rejected, therefore we would not willingly work without a contract. Therefore, we would choose the time and place to perform a job action.

All Scott Strickland has done is throw strikes.

Obviously we had been keen to negotiate a two-year contract for Jeff but when Collingwood came in with a four-year deal our hand was forced somewhat. We never wanted to lose Jeff to another club, but we certainly did not want to risk losing him for nothing.
